I can't remember a Super Bowl match up I've been more excited for. This is the game I've wanted all along.

And after the Colts game, I really liked how Manning emphasized "kept our mouths shut" during his interview.

You weren't excited for the Bears-Colts? :( Did you just assume it was going to be a blowout? (please make me feel better about my life and lie to me)

I was definitely excited, I just really like how the Colts and Saints match up against each other. Looks to be an extremely exciting game. Plus in 2006, the SB was kind of anti-climatic after the AFC Championship.

And all u folks talking about favre retiring, I just don't see. He'll likely sit out and think about it just so he doesn't have to go to training camp. He is still very effective.

Sincere congrats on the win OMC. I feel better about the Bears beating you in 2006 now because if they had played anyone but the Bears I would have wholeheartedly been cheering for them. I know a lot of teams fans are long suffering (look no further than this board) but it felt like there was always something different about Saints fans. I don't know how to put my finger on it, but the pride in the Saints and what it means for the New Orleans area in general seems different from most other teams. Not to say that other team's fans don't have enormous pride but it just seems different.

I've lived the better part of my life an hour down the road from N.O., went to Saints games as a child and despite my first Hutch equipment including an Archie Manning jersey I feel nothing. I've tried to again give a damn about the Saints, but I just can't. Except for that early period of my life when I really didn't "know" the game of football, I've always been a Bears fan first and foremost. Kind of sad actually that I take no joy in watching the Saints get to their first SB. Oh well.

ETA: I did love the days of Pat Swilling, Ricky Jackson and Sam Mills.

Looking back at recent Super Bowl match ups (not how good the games were, but how good the match up appeared to be):

Cardinals/Steelers: It was cool to see the Cardinals in there, but nothing overly exciting about the teams.

Giants/Patriots: The undefeated thing was interesting, but everyone thought this would be a blow out.

Bears/Colts: Good, not great.

Seahawks/Steelers: Doesn't get much worse than that. Very appropriate that it took place in Detroit.

Eagles/Patriots: Good, not great.

Panthers/Patriots: Nothing overly exciting.

Then before that the Bucs/Raiders and Rams/Titans were both pretty exciting match ups. I think Saints/Colts trumps them both though.

Edit: I mixed up Rams/Titans and Rams/Patriots. I'm so embarrassed.

Hasselbeck had a goal line sneak that was a TD but they said it wasn't upon review or something like that. That's all I can recall.

I just remember all Seattle fans and many national sportswriters whining about the officiating and wondering why because Pittsburgh pretty well controlled the game and would've beaten the Seahawks 8 times out of 10.

I think Willie Parker threw a TD pass? I remember someone other than Roethlisberger throwing a long pass for a TD.

Well Favre was supposedly gimpy after that ankle injury...it's possible running wasn't an option.

Which is why calling a roll-out was such a dumb call. An already lead-footed QB with an ankle injury? Let's roll him out of the pocket!

Yeah, but the roll-out wasn't all that bad. He got out of the pocket fine, and was in open space.

I think it was just another bone-headed INT by Favre in an NFC Championship game. That one is all on Brett, IMO. There were other options, better options.

He was moving perfectly fine on that play and made a dumb throw, which is what he always does and what he was always destined to do to finish off the Vikings season. This had to happen in this exact way.

I remember watching some of it at the gym thinking to myself how crappy of a game it was to not even care that I was at the gym during the freaking Super Bowl.

I might have missed that game, travelling for work.

I definitely didn't feel very bad about it.

terrific video of the reaction after the kick of people running out of the bars and onto Bourbon Street

New Orleans native Peyton Manning will be trying to take all that Bourbon Street joy away...

I find that to be interesting.

trust me, Saints fans are just happy to be there. I don't think losing the Super Bowl would bother us all that much, especially against Manning.

I can see that.

Also, check this out: Peyton is from New Orleans, trying to beat the Saints.

Brees played his college football in the shadow of Indy, trying to beat the Colts.

I think this is an intriguing matchup. I give the Colts the edge, but I'm definitely excited for this game.
