Apropos of nothing, Miami scheduled a home and home with Toledo. I'd love to know how Toledo got that deal. Ball State is hosting South Florida in 2012 as part of a home and home, but they aren't "The U".

is there a significance to that game that I'm missing?

Penn State playing a non-con game against a team that has made a bowl game in the last decade.

Well, they DO play @Alabama this year, so.....

But the 2012 non-con right now has Navy and @Virginia with one TBA (which will probably be a joke like Coastal Carolina).

The Big Ten has some pretty decent non-con games this year, though:

Illinois @ Missouri

Purdue @ Notre Dame

Michigan @ Notre Dame

Ohio State vs. Miami (FL)

Penn State @ Alabama

Michigan St vs. Notre Dame

Minnesota vs. Southern Cal

USC can kiss their 2004 BCS championship goodbye:

@dennisdoddcbs"]BCS honcho Bill Hancock just said that the BCS oversight committee (presidents) will vacate 2004 USC title if appeal fails.

Illinois travels to Fresno State too.

So will they give it to OU or just not award one for that year?

so you're saying there is no chance of bringing back the coaches/players from the 2004 OU and Auburn teams to settle this? I was at the Sugar Bowl that year, btw, to see Auburn beat the Hokies to remain undefeated.

USC is just going to tell everyone they're the national champs anyway just like they did to LSU in '03

Elaine Marshall is running for the NC senate seat
The article has her current position wrong. She's Secretary of State, not Attorney General.

Didn't they announce that the name is going to be the Pac-12? Why does the logo still say Pac-10? Are they just going to replace the "0" with a "2" later on?

Not the Pac-12 till next season.

I didn't hear about that until after I posted those pics. I'm amazed that they'd waste all that money to rebrand just for one season.

I'm amazed they're changing their name at all.

I assume the Big Ten is staying the Big Ten. It's a brand name.

It is. They'd be crazy to change it.

Big 12 is going to reassess the name over the coming months and decide if they need to change it or not. I doubt they will.

I could care less, though I would prefer just to call it the SWC again.

I'm sure the non-Texas schools would love that

Yahoo"]• Those are oddly well-formed storm and melodramatic clouds for downtown Los Angeles, even for summer.

• The number of bowl victories and national championships remains unchanged, for now. The university may be disappearing Bush, but it won't part with the fruits of his on-field labors without a final say-so from the NCAA appeals committee.

• Lane Kiffin's face looks strangely bloated. Is there chaw in that mouth? Because that might endear him to latest angry faction of Tennesseans he's stirred up this summer.

And

Yahoo"]Georgia plans to reprint about 14,000 football media guides to replace references to ousted athletics director Damon Evans.

The Bulldogs' annual media guide, which is distributed to donors and recruits as well as the media, was printed shortly before Evans' June 30 DUI arrest and subsequent resignation.

"The timing made it a very unusual circumstance," Georgia associate athletics director Claude Felton told the AJC. "After discussions among Alan Thomas in the development office, [interim AD] Frank Crumley and myself, we felt like the best thing under the circumstances would be to do a partial reprint."
