Florida at #3 despite losing Football Jesus [tm]?

It's kind of a reputation ranking I think, but they've still got some really good talent on that team. I'm interested to see how John Brantley does.

Alabama is easily the class of the SEC, but I don't think Florida is too far behind.

Florida and Texas will be very similar this year in the transitions they are making. Brantley and Gilbert are both very capable of running more of a pro-style offense.

That's a good point. Both teams will rely heavily on their young QB having success early. With Florida, I could see them running away with the SEC East or I could see them struggling early and fighting for the division title with Georgia and South Carolina.

Little disappointed Boise State isn't higher.

I'm not. They basically have a 2-game season.

And still if two teams from major conferences go undefeated they will still be ahead of BSU at the very end regardless of preseason rankings.

NCAA is investigating Tennessee and Miami, as well.

I don't like Lane Kiffin.

Well, to be fair, the Tennessee athletic department was in charge of hiring Kiffin. Not sure what they expected aside from a brief stay and NCAA investigation.

I understand. And I knew there was a better than average chance that there'd be NCAA crap after he left. I just thought he'd do more while here.

If he was found doing anything major I wonder how USC would feel about it given everything they are going through.

Good, they should be.

I don't care what you guys say, I love Joe Pa. Running off because he pooped his pants is endearing with that man. Really though, it's weird that I don't have a dislike for Penn State. Part of it is probably that Iowa seems to own them, but I at least think they try to do things the right way. If they weren't in the Big Ten I would love those bastards.

Plus he's the subject of one of the best montage's ever (made even sweeter by beating OSU in their place):

I had some guarded optimism for this season, largely because we got the weak south rotation in the last year of the imbalanced Big 12 season. But man, so far everything that could go wrong has.

Our best DT was kicked off the team. One of our top DE's was kicked off the team. Our starting right tackle is out for the season. Another starting OL broke his foot, though he should be good to go by season's start. Still, he'll miss a lot of practice. A freshman LB broke his foot. And now rumors that our top LB is out for the season. Dline and LB are two positions where we are paper thin to begin with.

Do more good or bad?

Penn State football = MSU basketball for the Big 10. They're (almost) always really good, and for whatever reason you can't hate them.

Haha, more good. I thought he'd be here longer than a year (figured only USC or the NFL would get him to leave) and with Orgeron, Monte and the rest of the coaching staff, along with his ability, I really thought he'd turn the program back into a top 10-15 program consistently before leaving.

I also figured unless we got lucky there was a good chance the NCAA would slap us with at least minor sanctions in that 5-6 year time period.
