The same guy reporting on the ultimatum is also saying that the Pac-10 has zero interest in Baylor, which makes sense.

I'm still nervous about the possibility of Mizzou getting left in the dust here as well.

Yeah, if I'm a Mizzou fan, I'd be a lot less confident than I was a few weeks ago. Nebraska seems to be the Big 12 team the Big 10 really wants. YOu're still in a heckuva better position than KU.

Orangebloods guy is saying an AD told him the Big Ten is trying to work things out with Notre Dame before moving on Nebraska or Mizzou.

That's my ideal scenario. I would love to see the Big Ten just add ND, Pac 10 add Utah and Colorado and the Big 12 can just add TCU to replace them. I don't like the idea of super-leagues.

Political forces in the state of Texas are preparing to demand that Baylor -- not Colorado -- should be one of the schools in the mix should the Pac-10 extend an invitation to six Big 12 schools to join its ranks, according to Orangebloods.com.

Earlier in the week, the website reported that the Pac-10 is planning to extend invitations to Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

Nice work, Texas. Way to work hard on the things that really matter.

Ugh, screw Baylor. I'm ready to be done with those losers.

No real surprise, they stepped in after the SWC. But yeah screw Baylor they can join SMU and Rice to form whatever they want.

They don't have the political clout now that they did when the Big 12 was forming. The governor at the time was a Baylor grad and the lieutenant governor went to law school there. Now we have an Aggie governor.

The writer has a throwaway line wondering if KU would fit in the Big East if all the [expletive] hits the fan. Leaves KU as a geographical oddity, and it hurts their football, but other than travel, it wouldn't be terrible for their basketball. It'll never happen, but thought it was worth bringing up here. Really off the wall.

You should have used one of the pics of Perry throwing the hook em horns. He is a political whore, but he won't let A&M get screwed.

Pete Thamel of the NYT:

BCS AD told me tonight: "Notre Dame and the Big Ten are very much in deliberations." The question is, will they finish before B12 deadline?

Some are speculating that if they add Notre Dame, that'll be it for right now. The Big Ten has always wanted this expansion to be gradual. I just don't think it's terribly realistic. Adding Notre Dame probably won't do much, if anything, to expand the footprint of the Big Ten Network. Adding Nebraska would, though.

I'd be shocked if they added more than Nebraska and Missouri if Notre Dame joins, though.

I don't think it's that off-the-wall. Basically, KU's options will be a rejiggered MWC of joining a picked apart Big East. The Big East would have a little more cache, but it would be the death of the football program.

The MWC would be a safer geographic fit, but it might be the death of both football and hoops for KU. Neither option really makes my pants tight.

My hope is that someone in Lawrence has been considering these possibilities for awhile now and has contingency plans in place. That is my hope. But with the other [expletive] going on in Lawrence right now, I'm nervous.

It might not expand the footprint of the BTN, but I'm sure adding NBC as a partner wouldn't hurt that very much. Besides, ND does have a pretty spread out fan base, its possible the BTN can expand because of that.

I don't think there's any implication with NBC. They'd be out of the picture (I assume both sides would opt out, but even if not, it ends in 2015). I haven't seen any real analysis on the impact that Notre Dame would have on the BTN. It's quite possible that Notre Dame being added would push the BTN over the top and cause it to get added to cable plans from coast to coast in all of the big markets, meaning a ton more money in cable subscriber fees. I just haven't seen anything to really suggest whether or not that would be the case.

Plenty of reports in the last day, but not much to say. Notre Dame is in deliberations, Notre Dame denying it, Notre Damn not budging on any of their demands, etc. Most people seem to agree that things are picking up quickly for the Big Ten, though. And the fact that they announced that each school can vote electronically or by phone for any future candidates is a big deal since it means it can happen at any time. No meeting necessary.

Well I wish whatever is going to happen would just happen so I would know what will happen :)

Lot of buzz on the Nebraska sites that Nebraska to the Big 10 is a done deal and could be announced as early as tonight. Additional buzz that ND and Mizzou are next.

If the Big 12 collapses, where the hell does KU end up? Independent?

Mountain West, perhaps.

EDIT: Word on the street is that the MWC hasn't invited Boise State yet because they're hoping Kansas/KSU get hung out to dry by the Big 12 implosion.

If that happens, why wouldn't Big 12 just get TCU and someone else decent and call it a wash (Arkansas maybe)?

Because a team like Texas couldn't already care less about teams like Baylor, KSU, ISU, etc. They're not interested in a more watered down conference.
