peter gammons' sunday columns in the boston globe were required reading back in the 80s and early 90s. i don't understand why people don't like him; he's smart, gets a lot of inside info and is really into baseball. compared to lots of other hacks out there he's miles better, and unlike most old men who cover baseball, he is progressive and open-minded with respect to new ideas/statistics.

in my next life i wouldn't mind coming back as peter gammons part 2.

You forgot writing songs for his band about the Red Sox. :D

Seriously though, I've always respected Gammons. He might just get me to watch MLB network at some point.

I was clearly referring to the whole Red Sox thing, not journalism/reporting in general.

christ

he's the best red sox guy around. he's followed them in some capacity for like 90 percent of his career, and now he has a chance to cash a check for following them directly. he's free of ESPN, why wouldn't he work for the team he's covered his whole career now that he has the chance?

i cant believe im arguing with a 12 year old
