Well the silver lining in all of this nonsense is that this will probably be ludicrous enough to secure Jim Hendry's ticket out of Chicago at the end of next season. Perhaps if we sign someone like Scott Podsednik he'll be gone before the ASB. If Tom Ricketts knew anything about baseball he'd put the kibosh on this trade in a heartbeat.

So glad to know we've found an adaquate replacement for Rich Harden in the form of one of the worst, if not THE worst pitcher in baseball

I'm actually embarrassed to be a Cubs fan right now.

Why? It's not like we booed a good player to the point he had to be traded for an awful pitcher with an awful contract.

So all of a sudden this is just the fans fault? There's a lot of blame to go around and you make it seem Bradley is a little angel who can do no wrong. The reality is Bradley is a head case who could not handle the pressure. Hendry made things worse by suspending him and ensuring he lost all of his trade value in the process.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Hendry's suspension killed the trade value. By all accounts Lou's insistence that Bradley talk to the media (despite his attempts to avoid them entirely) helped cause some of this mess. Irresponsible writers making it their mission to crucify him. Bob Brenly trying to turn every Cubs fan watching TV against him. And the fans have to answer for their part of it too. Far too many of them let themselves get swept up by the media's crusade against him. The reaction in the stands after he called a few fans racist will forever blow my mind...

Does Bradley get a pass? No. He's a jackass and he could have handled things better. But to pretend that we didn't let people stack the deck against him... to pretend that we as fans aren't at least partly to blame for the fact that we have to watch Carlos Silva pitch in a Cubs uniform next season... well, you'd be fooling yourself.

The black X over the silver lining is that the team could luck into an 85 win season where they contend based on weak opponents and everybody will applaud the move and pressure them to keep Hendry.

My brother's reaction to the trade: "The first time I heard of Silva was when Game Informer made fun of him for an entire review."

Carlos Silva everybody!

After we replace Bradley with Podsednik, there is no level of weakness of competition that could get this team to 85 wins.

Thanks guys. You could have put the Silva for Bradley in spoilers and save those who haven't seen the news some anger issues.

Jim Hendry might be, check that, he is the most discombobulated man in sports. Call in Bradley and his agent and let's have a airing out of the issues that are the problems. At the end of the meeting guarantee Bradley would not have to talk to the media, and be done with it. Or if your pride is just to hurt for that simply release Bradley and save yourself from going from one mistake to another. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Hendry is bound to determine to see how hated he get be before he is fired.

Ha ha they have the Seattle beat reporter and he's trying to talk up Silva. saying he has a nice sinking fastball like Zambrano. Bringing in a Seattle Writer for an interview what do they expect, if they had someone with any kind of baseball knowledge he would spend the segment just laughing at cubs fans.

So Milton took a big dump in Hendry's Cheerios again this morning, huh?

I don't think Jim Hendry eats Cheerios for breakfast.

Small children

Brandon Morrow-R-Mariners Dec. 18 - 11:54 am et

A source has informed FOXSports.com that the Mariners are trying to trade right-hander Brandon Morrow for a hitter.

I suppose if we miraculously were to get Morror in the deal, it wouldnt help as much. After all, Bradley has his problems, but is still a good player, and Silva, well, isnt.

Nah if we got Morrow in this deal it would be a good trade. Milton might be a good player, but you also gotta consider he has very little value at this point. Morrow would then be the main piece in the deal, and Silva you can let battle for the 5th spot or long reliever spot and if he sucks well then release him or hide him on the DL. That said it's probably unlikely we get him as a throw in this deal. I think more realisticly we would probably get some money in return so we can use on other players.

THEN DON'T [expletive] TRADE HIM!!!!

Sorry man, but "we" the fans are not to blame. There were small pockets of idiot fans who contributed to the problem, but I sure as heck didn't participate, and the vast majority of people I saw in Wrigley in the 2 games I attended immediately following that meltdown weren't participating either.

Carlos Silva wasn't exactly that good when he was healthy, and he's coming off a season where he only pitched eight games due to shoulder problems. For his career, he's allowed 11 hits per 9 innings. The only positive about him is his control, which actually regressed (albeit in a small sample size) in 2009.

The Cubs better be getting a prospect or a significant amount of cash in this deal.

Once this is finalized, I fully expect Hendry to resign. The last image we'll have of him is him riding away from Wrigley on a motorcycle, middle fingers in the air, with a Cardinals shirt on.

Thanks for providing my first laugh since the greatest news of 2009 was announced.

Wow they just called his numbers in Minnesota, good numbers.

Why is there a comma there?

Because he hit that little button to the right of the M key.

Dramatic pause.

I really don't like this move.
