Time to start playing for John Wall.

No you see the Pacers way is to win enough games to screw up their lottery chances and end up picking 11th or so. :-)) But this team might be able to tank it to an extent unseen in Naptown in many years.

In another thread I mentioned going to a NBDL game tonight......I was a bit surprised to see Joe Alexander on the Fort Wayne team. So is he a total bust or what? He looked disinterested and unimpressive out there.

That's what I'm worried about with the Pistons. They're not a good team and have had some injuries but still have underachieved. They're around 5 now but they'll probably mess it up and pick around 10 or so and be stuck taking Ekpe Udoh to fill their void inside.

Jermaine O'Neal is 31 but still looks 19. And he busted out a spin move that I thought he lost five years ago.

He finally healthy again? Or a one time fluke move?

The Onion couldn't get away with running that headline. That HAS to be some kind of joke. It just can't possibly be a real rumor. Someone in the FO is leaking it as a gag.

...I can't get over how perposterous that sounds.

Knicks vs. Cavs

End of the FIRST QUARTER, Cleveland is winning 44-24

LeBron has 23 points IN THE QUARTER, and finished with a pair of 3's that were 6 feet behind the arc

He's got 29 now and its 50-31. I find it amazing that he's also got five assists in the game.

I still don't see how anyone can make the argument that Kobe Bryant is a better player than LeBron James at this stage. It can't be said enough that he is playing out of his mind. When the ball is in his hands, a team's only hope is that LeBron or one of his teammates miss a shot. Because they are going to get a look at the basket somehow.

And how in the world can you defend that fake right, spin left and fade away? Simply ridiculous. This is the Cavs' year and LeBron is going to embarrass somebody in the Finals.

While I agree with the sentiment that LeBron is better than Kobe, I disagree about the Finals.

The Cavs had the best record in basketball last year and lost two games at home all year (and one of those was the last game of the year when LeBron either didn't play at all or very little) and they didn't even make the Finals. They're on pace for one less win and their point differential is 1.5 points worse than last year. LeBron is shooting a bit better than last year but overall, his numbers are very similar. I'm not saying the Cavs won't win the Finals, just that I don't see a reason why they're a lock to roll to a championship.

You didn't make it but I also hate the whole argument that the Cavs swept the Lakers so it gives them a huge advantage if the two teams face each other in the Finals. Orlando won both games from LA during the regular season last year but we all know how the Finals turned out.

While I agree that there are probably 2-3 (although, Boston really doesn't scare me unless they make a trade) teams that could take the Cavs out, I don't think last year's team matters much. Last year, teams like the Lakers and Magic caused huge matchup problems for us (and the rest of the league). With the addition of Shaq as a big body and the added length of guys like Parker and Moon, this is a much different team defensively.

And, yeah. LeBron is playing out of his mind.

what time is the dunk contest tonight?

Still waiting.

Even before tonight (with the exception of the Howard year), the dunk contest has become very vanilla and watered-down.

That is what happens when the best 20-30 dunkers in the game refuse to do it. I have said it before (not sure if on here) but they should pass a rule that anyone who refuses to do the dunk, 3-pt or skills challenge is not allowed to play in the All-Star game. The league would decide who dunks cause otherwise Kobe and LeBron would be selected every year or do something like once someone has done the dunk contest once they can opt out from then on. Most players I think see the All-Star game as a privilage because it is the only time they get to goof off with all the other top players so I don't think you would see everyone just say F it and skip All-Star Weekend all together.

Apparently the Cavs are getting close to a deal for Amare for Hickson and Ilgauskas, and Ilgauskas might even come back since the Suns would probably buy him out. That would be fun.

It would also probably assure that LeBron stays in Cleveland.
