What would your batting order be?

Just wanted to see what lineup you guys would like to see the Cubs go with.

Mine would be:

1. Kosuke Fukudome

2. Milton Bradley

3. Derrek Lee

4. Aramis Ramirez

5. Alfonso Soriano

6. Ryan Theriot

7. Mike Fontenot

8. Koyie Hill

Thoughts?

For away games I would bat the previous night's starting pitcher third. Really.

I believe they adjusted that rule so you have to bat or play the field before you can be removed from the game due to some misuses by Earl Weaver.

Oh, in real life

Fukudome

Bradley

Lee

Ramirez

Soriano

Theriot

Soto

Fontenot

You'd bat the Riot in front of Soto?

I'd have the same lineup but move Soto in front of Theriot.

I've always wondered if you put together a lineup like that for a full season, how many times would said team get shutout in 162 games. I'd imagine no matter who you put up there your bound to slump together at least a couple of times out of 162 games.

For some point of reference, there have been 79 All-Star games, and 6 shutouts.

Thoughts? Ryan Theriot is not a middle-of-the-lineup hitter.

Well of the current everyday starters, I don't see why not. If Soto wasn't hurt I would have put him 6th instead of Theriot.

Like others have said:

Fuku

Bradley

Lee

Aramis

Soriano

Soto

Theriot

Fontenot

Pitcher

That would be one dominating line-up if they played up to their potential. And even if they don't, that's still scarier than what most other teams put on the field every day.

That applies to Designated Hitters:

Against left handers:

Theriot

Bradley

Lee

Aram

Soriano

Soto

Johnson(When healthy)

Baker or Blanco

Pitcher

I was going to make the argument for Reed leading off against lefties, but then I saw Theriot's line against lefties this year: .350/.411/.550/.961.

Small sample size and all, but wow.

I understand the thought of why you would want Soriano to move back to the top BBB (best hitters getting the most at-bats). If so, why would you want to move Lee down to 5 when he's consistently had an OPS around 1.000 for the last 3+ months? The lineup balance is the same either way..if you swapped Lee and Bradley, Bradley would be separating Lee and Soto instead of separating Ramirez and Lee (or Lee and Ramirez if you prefer the current version)

My thought process is to kickstart the guys who need it most. Lee will still hit in the 5 spot, but we really need Bradley and Fukudome to get hot, and having the two hottest bats behind them could get them some better pitches to hit.

ETA: Also, the heart of the order can be mixed and matched a little bit since most are guys who are deserving of hitting in the heart of the order. My main concern is keeping the Theriot's and the Fontenot's down at the bottom.

You need Fukudome to get hot?

.344/.455/.547 post ASB isn't doing it for you?

Leave him at leadoff, no question. I don't understand why anybody would try and slide Soriano back up to leadoff. His days are done there. It's probably best to get past that silly story.
