  1. Thoughts? Ryan Theriot is not a middle-of-the-lineup hitter. Well of the current everyday starters, I don't see why not. If Soto wasn't hurt I would have put him 6th instead of Theriot.
  2. Just wanted to see what lineup you guys would like to see the Cubs go with. Mine would be: 1. Kosuke Fukudome 2. Milton Bradley 3. Derrek Lee 4. Aramis Ramirez 5. Alfonso Soriano 6. Ryan Theriot 7. Mike Fontenot 8. Koyie Hill Thoughts?
  3. Yep, pretty much the same pattern he fell into last season. I didn't want this to happen and wanted to be proven wrong (and I still hope I am), but this is not surprising to me in the least. At the very least, I just hope he can keep has average at a steady .260 because at least he would still be getting on base around 36% of the time.
  4. Well, let's see where he is after a month. We've only played 4 games up to this point so let's not go overboard quite yet.
  5. Theriot is a lot better than Fontenot against left-handers which is why he got the 2 spot and Fontenot was moved down to 8th against one: Theriot career against left-handers: .303/.395/.422 Fontenot career against left-handers: .247/.313/.370 It was a big step for Lou to put Fontenot in the lineup at all against a left-hander. He certainly shouldn't put him any higher than 8th against one (or maybe 7th if Hill is playing). Oh ok, I didn't know that. Fair point.
  6. Dammit Cubs! You ruined a perfectly great career! Not only that, but you're also responsible for global warming! Shame on you!
  7. I worry about what goes on in Lou's mind. Batting Theriot 2nd and Fontenot last 8th? I mean wth; I also worry about Fukudome, but I started worrying about him way before the season started.
  8. I didn't like the fact that Theriot batted 2nd and Fontenot batted 8th. I thought that should have been reversed. Let's just hope we can win tonight and take 2 out of 3.
  9. Cotts is the freakin' man. Comes in with 2 on and nobody out and saves the game for us. Gotta love it.
  10. And now Bradley's hurt is ankle. I hope this isn't serious.
  11. Just like I thought, Kosuke stinkin' it up in the 2 hole...
  12. Great to see Big Z has settled down. Let's just hold this lead now.
  13. I was scared that was gonna drop and Matsui would have scored, but turned out to be an inning ending double play. Sweet.
  14. Great way start to the season with that blast Soriano put in the seats.
  15. Ok, just curious after the proven closer comment. I actually preferred Gregg winning the job as well, but it was purely because I thought Marmol was the better pitcher and would serve the team better in the more precarious situations. Yeah, I can understand. The main reason I was happy Gregg won the closer's job was mainly because 1) He's been successful the last 2 season's as a closer in Florida and 2) I'm one of the people who's not completely sure if Marmol would be a successful closer. I mean the guy deserves the chance to prove to us he can close and I'm sure he will get that chance soon, but a few things that worried me were that he did blow the elimination game against the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic and he's hit 5 batters in 8 innings this Spring Training so I'm wondering how good his control is at the moment. Keep in mind I haven't seen much of him in Spring training. But at the moment, I think the Cubs will be fine with Gregg as their closer and as long as he's successful (which I think he will be), the Cubs will be fine.
