Here's a fun Mets stat I just realized

Mark Reynolds hit 4 HRs in 3 games there last week; or, as many as David Wright has hit there all season.

Yeah, aside from all the injuries, Citi Field's effect on Wright's power is probably the biggest story involving this team.

I have to think that after two straight collapses and what is turning out to be a disastrous season, the Mets will strongly consider blowing up the roster. One of their better players might become available.

If the Cubs could somehow get Jose Reyes, that would be sweet. I know some Mets fans want to get rid of him ASAP. But he's typically a 155 game SS who is a significant upgrade to Theriot. Then the midget brigade can platoon at 2B.

Well, if MLB09 the show is any barometer, the cubs ended up getting wright around 2010 and reyes at about 2013.

Really, though, I would love to see Reyes at short. God that would be awesome.

STL goes head hunting on Wright, but misses. Warnings to everybody by Tony doesn't get why.

Of course Tony doesnt.

So lets see Stl fans keep saying Cubs only doing good because of their schedule, well when you give up over 14 runs in 2 games to a team as bad as the damn Mets, I think its time for you to STFU.

Sheffield just singled and then proceeded to walk off the field injured. Man, they are just decimated at this point.

If the manage to give this one away, it'll be even worse than last night's giveaway.

Does anyone else find it remarkable that the Cards' pitching has failed to K a single Met? The NY lineup is composed of retreads, back-ups and David Wright and yet they manage 9 R on 14 H, 4 W and 0 K (thru 7+). Even the Mets pitchers are 2-2 with a BB. Edited by MWV

This is why I'm not worried about what the Cards do, the divison hinges on the Cubs. If they offense continues to score runs or just play to their ability its going to come down to pitching and Cubs are better.

Pinerio has made it all year without striking out anyone, and has gotten lucky till last night that it hasnt bit him in the ass.

Lohse just isnt that good, and only has 51 strikeouts in over 80 innings this year. This has been a long time coming for these 2 pitchers the Mets faced.

If any team can come back from a 9 run ninth inning deficit it's the new murderers row

2 outs and nobody on in the top of the 9th doesnt scare the new murderers row.

Murderer's Row, eh? Since the Cards have acquired Holliday, this is how many runs they've scored in each of their games: 8, 6, 2, 6, 10, 3 (15 innings), 3 (10 innings), 4, 3, 0, 12 (10 innings), 0.

By comparison, let's look at what the Cubs have done since July 24: 8, 5, 5, 5 (13 innings), 6, 12, 12, 2, 9 (10 innings), 2, 4, 6.

I'm not a math major but even I can figure out that the Cards have averaged 4.5 runs/game since they have acquired Holliday while the Cubs have averaged 6.3 runs per game in that span. The Cards have been shut out twice in that span and they've had some issues offensively over the past week or so besides last night. As Denny Green would say, don't go about crowning the Cardinals ass just yet.

Aside from last night Pujols has been in quite a slump. But OTOH, Holliday isn't going to stay this hot.

Regardless, nice work today by the pond scum.

We are lucky they haven't just contracted us. The Cardinals are so much better. Hell we aren't scary at all.

THIS GAME IS OVAH! Murderers Row shutout by the New York Mets AAA team. IMPRESSIVE!

Using a Hawk-ism should be punishable by ban.

The Murderers Row thing was said at GRB. And we all know the only reason the Cubs have avg 6.3 runs is because they are playing crap teams, and getting lucky. Dont question the greatness of the St Louis Cardinals. They are unstoppable

The likes of Hawk and the Cardinals go hand in hand, so I felt it was appropriate.

Oh I know. Plus I have quite a few friends that are Cardinal fans that said they'd be Murderer's Row 2.0.

In their defense, they have played the Dodgers and Phillies for seven of those games. But they really struggled at the end of that Dodgers series and especially against the Astros, who we obliterated over the course of that four game series. Make no mistake that they have a good offense, but best in the league? We'll see about that.

I feel bad for the Mets. Their fans must be desperate by now. Every time they get a player back, 2 more go down.

There is nothing in this world or the next that could make me feel bad for the Mets or their fans.

You sound like Santo. Still pissed about 1969 Fred?

I haven't been a Cubs fan long enough to develop a hatred for the Mets. The Cardinals are the only team that I hate
