According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, multiple teams have shown interest in left-handed reliever George Sherrill.

The O's seem fairly open to trading their closer. "If it's something meaningful coming back, something we don't have, a building block for the future, we would have to consider it," said Andy MacPhail, the team's president of baseball operations. The Cubs, Marlins, Dodgers, Brewers and Angels are among the clubs that have shown a good amount of interest.

I think this could be a great addition for the Cubs. Sherill has a WHIP of 1.096 and an ERA+ of 194 on the season. I have no idea if the Cubs would use him as a situational lefty, closer, or 8th inning guy, but adding his arm in the pen would be a great addition.

I wonder who Lou doesn't trust. Guzman, Marmol, and Gregg all seem to be doing pretty good recently. Heilman has been bad, but Lou doesn't seem to notice.

The Cubs have been rumored for a couple closers (Heath Bell). I wonder if this is more of a move for next year with Gregg and Heilman possibly not being back.

Marmol has been pretty bad. He's squeezed himself out of self-made trouble, but he still has no idea where his pitches are going and overuses his slider

ERA of 1.13 and Whip of 1 in July. He's been throwing the ball a lot better as of late.

they asked for Brandon Wood and Trevor Reckling from LA for Sherrill.

yeah, i'll pass.

Yeah, Sherrill would be a nice addition, but they're looking for way too much for him.

If they really want to deal him, and they should want to deal him, they'll lower those demands to something more reasonable.

If they do lower it enough, that'd be great. At that high a starting point, though, I don't know that MacPhail will drop enough.

The Orioles ought to trade him STRAIGHT UP for Aaron Miles, considering that we basically gave them all the guys they were demanding for Brian Roberts in trade.

I wouldn't deal with them again unless it's one sided in the Cubs favor.

O's hangout is coming to the consensus that they'd want Jay Jackson + Hak-Ju Lee/Flaherty. I don't even know what to say about the absurdity of that.

Andy, you'll get Blake Parker and Tony Thomas. And you'll like it!

Not crazy about that offer, but I could live with it.

LH relievers are always overvalued. Jeff Fassero for an actual living human being that plays professional baseball for example. The O's don't need to shed Sherrill's salary so of course they are going to ask a lot for him.
