I don't have a link for this, but supposedly MLBN says the Phillies are closing in on Halladay. Do with it what you will.

Here is a couple more things regarding Hallday to Phils. Gotta love the Will Carrol part

MLB Home Run says MLBXM and MLB Network are reporting the Phillies may be close to a deal that will bring Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays to the Phillies.

…i have had MLB Network on, and do not see anything on their news scroll… but, halladay going to Philadelphia is seeming more and more likely every day… well, here’s to soon watching Johan Santana vs. Roy Halladay…

Update, 4:20 pm:

In a post to Twitter, MiLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo says, “I’m hearing Halladay to Philly is nowhere near being done; Not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s not close.”

Meanwhile, also on Twitter, Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says a source told him there is a No. 32 jersey in the Phillies clubhouse.

Phillies sources say this is "just about done."

I've got to imagine a deal would be based around one of Carlos Carrasco, JA Happ or Kyle Drabek.

i think both happ and drabek will be going.

escobar i can understand, but gamel? he's either going to be awful defensively at 3B or be limited to corner OF and 1B, all of which are filled on the brewers. i'd think that they'd want to trade gamel.

i don't think happ is that great; the phillies would be smart to sell now while his value is high.

yeah, we're not winning the NL this season

Who knows, maybe the Phillies will choke like we did last year. Anything can happen in a short series.

They're certainly the best team on paper with Halladay, though.

They'll need Gamel when Fielder walks. Hart is also becoming a real question mark.

well halladay is scheduled to start for toronto, happ for philly and carrasco for philly's AAA affiliate. so it will be interesting to see what happens in the next hour. i have to think that either happ or carrasco (probably carrasco) will be going to toronto with drabek in any potential deal. then again, because so many of the possibilities are scheduled to start, the teams may hold off to finalize.

Maybe, maybe not. But unless the Phillies get better production from Hamels (4.66 era--1.33 whip--.287baa), Moyer ( 5.65 ERA---1.44 whip---.296 baa), and Blanton (4.24era---1.33whip---.265baa) the Phillies will definately be beatable even with Halladay.

i've seen the names of michael taylor, jason donald, carlos carrasco and lou marson as well. i suspect that the phillies will give up drabek and carrasco but will not give up happ.

Sounds like the Phillies won't trade Drabek and Happ together with another top prospect, Hendry better not get stupid and offer something like Vitters, Jackson, Castro and Cashner.

I almost feel better about us winning the wildcard than winning the division. Especially since the freakin Giants and Rockies are tied for the WC lead right now, and we're decidedly better than both of those teams. If that happens, we'd likely face the Dodgers and I can see us getting by them if things fall our way. Maybe the Cardinals can pull a series win out of their asses against the Phils. I would like our chances against the Cards in the NLCS.

I have some hope he isn't that stupid. It's usually the free agent market where he's inept.

3:08pm: ESPN's Jayson Stark reports the Blue Jays have presented similar proposals (or lists of desired prospects) to the Dodgers and Angels. "The ball is in their court," as Toronto GM J.P. Ricciardi said Friday.

2:40pm: Jeff Blair of the Toronto Globe and Mail heard from a Jays scout that "there's one big team yet to make a play for Doc." Blair hints that one "big team" might be the Red Sox.

1:04pm: According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, the Phillies have formally rejected the Blue Jays' proposal. Philadelphia is reportedly opposed to giving up both Drabek and Happ.
