Is it really Poreda, Lillibridge, and Floyd for Peavy? The Padres can do better than that.

No, that was the offer Ping tossed out. The Richard, Poreda, 2 PTBNL is what's being tossed around. Last I heard Peavy was going to reject.

No, it's something I speculated as to what it might be similar to.

Either way, it's an impressive trade for the White Sox if they don't have to part with Beckham.

Another reason I don't want this to happen is because living in the southside I am going to hear about it from every damn Sox fan

Well, you could always toss the fact that they aren't winning back in their face. Peavy won't fix their offense.

Gavin Floyd has a fluky 19 Unearned Runs last year, artificially propping up his ERA. He's really not very good. I'd take Marshall 10 times out of 10 over him. Marshall has the better minor league and major league history. Floyd has been nothing special over the past 5 years or so.

Marshall doesn't have the health or the stuff that Floyd does. Given Floyd's contract, I'd take Marshall but as far as a player/player comparison, I'd take Floyd.

As I suspect the Cubs wouldn't part w/Vitters any time soon, the Sox are likely in the same boat with Beckham.

Beckham and Poreda would be a raping by SD.

What a joke. Eff Hendry if this is the deal that get's done. That's like Marshall, Wells, and Fontenot.

Eff Hendry for what exactly?

If he rejected Peavy for the Cubs equivelant of Poreda, Lillibridge, and Floyd and that is the trade that comes (which it probably isn't).

That's not the trade. It was one Ping brought up before the actual offer was revealed.

The actual trade sounds like Poreda, Richard and two PTBNLs.

Hence the IF.

Even if/when the deal gets done, it doesn't mean that in December, Hendry rejected a deal with a package similar in value. That's all I'm saying.

Is Kenny Williams trying to make the White Sox a mess or what? The White Sox are one of the worst hitting teams in the American League, and he acquires Peavy?

The thought among Sox fans is the offense will pick up with the weather as it has in past seasons. *shrug*

They have holes all over & with Danks and Floyd not doing well as well as trading Vazquez, they need a top of the rotation guy as well.

They also have two legit starting pitchers.

It doesn't matter who you have pitching if you can't score any runs.

Hey, the offense has the same two things it depended on when it won the World Series in 2005: smartball and Scott Podsednik.

I see Sox fans getting excited about this and I will laugh if Peavy turns it down. On the other end, is their really much difference between the Padres and the Sox. A bad offense with a couple of decent pitchers. I can't imagine the Sox fate being much different than the Padres.

In addition to Peavy liking to hit, he'd also be going from probably the best pitcher's park in baseball, to a hitter's park. The Cell isn't Coors '96, but this (plus the higher run environment in AL) would hurt his legacy(and wallet)

Well, the White Sox are a team whose ownership is stable and has shown a willingness to spend. They may be no better this year (although they probably actually will be), but over the course of his contract he could probably see more significant success with the White Sox than SD.
