Aside from all the stupidity on this page, Illinois probably wouldn't have won today with the way they played, but they don't get blown out of the gym if both teams shoot a normal % from the field.

ohio state is a talented, athletic team, which is why i find their "chucking it like there's no tomorrow" strategy strange because they normally don't shoot a lot of 3s.

Ohio State shot 21 threes

Illinois shot 23.

14 of those were in the 2nd half when they were down by 20.

Does this mean Iowa isn't a bunch of godless chuckers since they only shoot threes while down by 20?

Ohio St missed like 3 shots that entire game. I have a hard time even being upset. That was awful though.

And Iowa sucks.

Purdue too.

And nobody cares about Ball St. (except for NCCubFan, but only his 8th favorite team)

Someone still making an argument that the Illini could be tops in the Big Ten, talent-wise?

1 big win and the crazies have a field day. Zero consistency, only 2 talented players right now.

Wisconsin is just a glorified Iowa and wasn't a big win unless you're talking about msu.

Both those statements are fantastic. You don't beat MSU if Lucas plays. And a team that's made the tourney 12 years in a row (counting this year, as they are a lock) and has had 20+ wins in 7 of 8 years isn't a glorified anything.

Wisconsin has been largely irrelevant in basketball until the last decade. Iowa 22 tournament appearances to go along with 6 Big Ten titles (since the inception of the NCAA tourney) and 3 Final Fours. Wisconsin has 15 tournament appearances, 11 of which are in the last decade, and lacked one from 1947 to 1994. Wisconsin has also only won 5 Big Ten titles since the creation of the NCAA tournament. So in a historical sense the Badgers are very irrelevant, because they disappeared for 5 decades. Overall if you look at the objective criteria I think it is clear you are either on par with or a little below Iowa, but no one is arguing the fact that Wisconsin is head and shoulders above Iowa at this moment. Either way this is the golden age of Wisconsin basketball, and you are still only a middle of the road Big Ten program.

you purdue pukes are a bunch of jokes. don't you have a final four to be missing?

We'll have to wait and see for that. First we'll have to enjoy the Illini's NIT appearance.

the '04-'05 Illinois team averaged 22 3-point shots per game and took over 25% of their shot attempts from behind the arc

I'm assuming your comment was sarcastic Derwood, but the 04-05 team averaged 39.2% from three as a team. That's almost 5% above the NCAA average for the 04-05 season.

That [expletive] only happens to Sulley's teams

:yahoo: for Illini homers. They were in top notch form today. Ohio State's chucking waaaaaaa. You allowed them to shoot that ridiculous percentage so get over it.

I also love all the Purdue hatred that comes from no replys. Illinois lost in an embarassment today so let's throw out Purdue hatred to feel better.

This is why I don't get along well with math.

McCamey was probably distracted by all the NBA scouts in the stands today.

Yea because hes not going to be drafted right? Oh wait.....

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/colleges/post/_/id/94/nba-draft-stock-rising-for-illinois-guard-demetri-mccamey

But that may soon change. As McCamey has put together dominant game after dominant game in the last few weeks, he’s begun to solidify himself as a future NBA player. If McCamey can continue his play, it’s hard to imagine that he wouldn’t be a more attractive pick than, say, the Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas (No. 8), Harvard’s Jeremy Lin (No. 15) or Arizona’s Nic Wise (No. 30).

One former NBA scout shared this about McCamey on Saturday: “I think he’s been good all year. It’s not about his scoring. We all know he can score. But his shooting is up eight percent, his 3-point shooting is up, and his assist-to-turnover ratio is at 2-to-1. He has good size and an active defender.

“I think he’s a rotation point guard [in the NBA], but not a starter. But he can be in a team’s rotation, for sure. I think he’ll be all over the board anywhere from 20 to 40 [in draft projections.]”

But we are all just Illini homers and think DMac is good when he really isnt. Yea thats it

You're not allowed to call anyone else a homer. Ever.

why does weber have both cole and davis starting against a zone? it sucks that brandon paul has been so awful, as it would have been a good game for a third guard on the court. not that the outcome would have been different given the shooting %'s.

St. John's ranks 239th in Division I in 3-point percentage, at 31.7 percent. Currently they are 6/8 from long range.

Right. We find two more wins and we are in.

Hey isn't Illinois gonna finish 7th or 8th in the conference this year? I coulda sworn you said that.
