One of the best series ever: Celtics win 4-3

What a huge huge win. Can't possibly overstate it.

 

Derrick Rose is an absolute force. He is going to be an MVP candidate next year.

Eh, the Bulls weren't playing their best basketball today, imo. Rose was amazing and people stepped up when the Bulls needed it, but, at the same time, there was some atrocious three point shooting, bad calls by the refs, and questionable decision-making that hurt the Bulls tonight. Moreover, I don't know if Rondo could keep playing the way he was today.

 

I still have my doubts about the Bulls pulling this series off, but today's effort definitely erased some of those doubts. The key in my mind is whether the Bulls can continue to out-rebound the Celtics.

Oh my god I just finished the game on DVR. Most nerve racking NBA game I've watched since Game 6 against Utah.

but the effort was there. even thought they weren't hitting shots, they were still playing hard, especially noah. and as was mentioned, salmons did a great job on pierce, even if he wasn't good offensively.

 

they need to stay focused and rose needs to have a few more of days like today. he's going to be such a star in the league, there's not another player with his gifts. he's like a taller, stronger, more deceptive cp3.

I disagree. Gordon was off for the first 3 quarters and Salmons was non-existent on offense the entire game. I realize Allen was 1/12, but the Bulls have much more firepower than they displayed today.

 

After today, I believe the Bulls will win this series.

Miller is such an infuriating (yet useful) player. He's too slow for even an effective pick and pop game because he takes so long to load up his shot and then he'll ball fake, lumber towards the basket, and if he isn't called for a travel throw up some horrible pass/shot up.

 

But at the same time, he has stretches where he holds down the interior and is a total glass eater (especially with Noah). I think you have to give Vinny credit for playing Miller/Tyrus when matchups warranted it.

 

And oh yeah, Derrick FREAKING Rose.

outside of Rose, it's hard to figure out the team after that one. They turned the ball over a lot, Gordon took forever to get going,and the 3 point shooting was terrible, but Tyrus was swishing 23 foot jumpers. Can't count on Tyrus to do THAT going forward, but if they can shore up the shooting and hold onto the ball, they'll be okay. We'll see how they'll adjust if Rose has a cold shooting night or gets into foul trouble

Yeah probably. But Thomas is a 78% FT shooter, has good form, and has shown he can make open jumpers in stretches this year. It's not like Noah was out there draining shots.

 

Ray Allen is harder to figure. He was horrific for over a month of playoff basketball last year.

I called my wife when I was on break at work and she told be the Bulls were up at half and I was stunned. When I asked her who won the game for me they told me they won and I was so pumped. I wish I could have watched it.

i've probably watched no more than a handful of games total before today, when i watched the second half. i am floored by how easy rose gets to the basket. i had heard all year rondo was some great defender, and if the lane was open it was all derrick's. he has a way to go to compare to cp3's passing ability, but i havent seen paul score in the lane like rose.

My heart said "yeah the Celts would win", after watching that pitidul defensive effort by a Thibedeaux (sp?) team I'm not so sure. Pierce---more on him in a little---and Allen look old and slow. The C's BIGS won the scoring matching, but the Bulls bigs dominated them on the boards and blocks. Rondo was great, but Rose simply look and acted the part of a superstar in Game 1. The C's without KG isn't all that scary and is easily beatable.
