In comments to Boston reporters Sunday, center Kendrick Perkins made a bold guarantee that Derrick Rose won’t come close to matching his career-high 36 points in Monday night’s Game 2.

“Everybody has their night,” Perkins said. “I know it won’t happen again. He’ll never have another game like that against us. It wasn’t anything that they did. It was all on us.”

“I was in a pretty good mood because I knew from watching the tape that we didn’t play that well at all and still had a chance to win,” Pierce said.

Kevin McHale in 1986 after Michael Jordan dropped 49 on the Celtics in Boston in game 1:

"That will never happen again."

MJ scored 63 the next game.

So Derrick Rose has that going for him.

Kendrick Perkins should probably look into not getting worked by Joakim Noah and Brad Miller.

How can you have such good taste in baseball and college basketball, but yet have such terrible taste when it comes to pro basketball? :D

Yesterday was the single greatest day in Chicago sports that I can recall.

What.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but there has to have been a good chance back in the early-to-mid 90's when the Bulls/Blackhawks each won playoff contests and the Cubs/White Sox won games.

While thats probably true, I think the weekend was magnified because of how the Cubs, Bulls, and Hawks won. Cubs win on a walk off against long time hated rival, Bulls win on the road in OT against the defending Champs, and the Hawks come back from a 2-0 deficit to win. I wont go so far as to say its the greatest day in Chicago sports, but it definately was 1 hell of a good day for a fan of of 3 teams.

It was definitely a good one. But it was still just a couple first round victories and mid-April baseball games. Given the championships that have been won, and more pivotal regular season games, I'm guessing there have been better days. Super Bowl XX should probably rank higher, just based on one team's win. And I'm not even a Bulls fan but there had to be days when the Bulls won a championship that were overall bigger days for Chicago sports fans.

Well I meant it as more of an overall Chicago thing. It was also magnified by the excitement that comes along with being an underdog against the Celts, winning in OT, and the Cubs winning with a walkoff in extras. I also wasn't born yet for the Bears superbowl and as much as I loved the Bulls championship teams, I was 11 at the time of their 6th and final championship and grew up my whole life expecting the Bulls to win championships every year, so I really didn't appreciate them for what they were. So yeah, overall, I'd say it's the best day for Chicago sports in my life.

I do think Perkins was mostly mouthing off but we should expect Thibodeau and the Celtics to throw a different defensive game plan at Rose tonight. It'll be up to him and Vinny to adjust properly. I'm thinking Ben Gordon will need to show up before the last half of the 4th quarter tonight.

And on the flip side, Pierce needs to play the first half.

Since I'm stuck at work and can't watch, are these foul calls real fouls or what?

Yeah. For the first 9 minutes or so the Bulls were doing a horrible job of picking up Rondo before he had a full head of steam. Noah or Ty would block his shot and Baby/Perk would clean up.

And as I type this, Tyrus spazzes out on a 2 on nothing fast break.

Bulls looked wayyy more nervous for the start of this game than the start of Game 1. They weathered an early storm and are only down by 6. Gordon and Salmons look pretty good.

And the Miller haters have to admit, he boxes out much better than Tyrus does. He was getting waxed on the defensive glass.

they were sorta real....mostly blocking fouls where Hinrich/Rose was backing up as Rondo drove on them and then everyone fell down. Not hacking fouls for sure.

Thanks, guys. Nice to see the deficit down to 6 after 1. Looks like they weathered the storm, especially considering they only got 3 minutes from Rose.

The Bulls are actually getting the ball inside and drawing fouls, which is nice to see. Also, Salmons is shooting much better, and Gordon isn't ice cold.

I love that TT is such a good fould shooter.

Bulls must have 8 blocks already.

BRAD MILLER FOR THREE? GOOD?

8 is exactly right.

Beautiful job of weathering the storm early on. The scary thing is, Lindsey Hunter's been the reason why we've gotten back into this game.

Also nice to see Miller come back and have a decent start to this game after being our worst player on Saturday.

Wow. I just got back from covering a super-exciting school board meeting and I turn on the TV just in time to see miller hit a 3 to take the lead. Wow.
