Prime time for the return of the creature!

Seriously

A quick look at the 40 man shows that our options are Fox or Fuld. On another note, how are there no other infielders or catchers on the 40 man roster? Not that I want a return to the days of 12 middle infielders on the 40 man, but this is ridiculous.

It is a little bit, but remember that if the Cubs need an infielder or a catcher that it is very easy to add them with all the open slots they have. A quick count shows them at 35 players right now on the 40 man. They didn't want to start Castillo's clock yet so they haven't put him on the 40 man, and Mark Johnson shouldn't be put on the 40 until they actually need him.

The bigger issue will be is that if infielders get hurt there are not really any decent options coming up from AAA except at first base. Scales or Blanco would probably be added to the 40 man if they needed them during the year, but they are almost certainly not major league level players. The Cubs have several intriguing infielders at lower levels but they aren't really options until at least next year.

I guess since Rondell is not in baseball, the race for most fragile legs in baseball is between Milty and Uncle Cliffy.

MB with the early lead.

Well, the 40 man is also only at 35 right now. So if a need were to arise, there's more than enough space to add somebody.

Unfortunately they will be doing little more than adding some body.

It would have been nice if we had kept Esteban German in Iowa in case Theriot or Fontenot went down. Did we cut him because he refused to go to Iowa?

This is pretty much what we should expect all season. Even when he stays off the DL, he's going to be in and out of the lineup like this all year.

Soriano, Johnson, and Fukudome are a more than capable outfield when that hapens. I just wish we had a better 5th outfielder than Gathright. Jake Fox or Sam Fuld hould have gotten a chance instead of signing him for no apparent reason.

Hopefully, the lineup (even sans Milton for short-to-moderate stretches at a time) can carry us to the playoffs, and THEN MB won't need to miss a game. With any luck, he's here for October...

And substitute Harden for Bradley and lineup for Rotation, and it's also true.

I just want him back for the Stl series. Take today thru Weds off and come back vs Stl please

Yeah that's my thinking/hoping, but I could see him not starting on Thursday maybe try to get him a pinch hit ab on Thur. though. I would think that by Saturday we should have everyone healthy and our normal lineup out there.
