The only reason I'm pissed off that we lost is because it slightly takes the wind out of my sails for tomorrow's game, which I'm going to.

Last year I thought the world was over when Wood blew that save in May against Milwaukee. This year, I saw how many games we had no business winning and won.

Oh, it also sucks that I can't go to brewerfan.net and see their reactions to a loss.

We're starting this season better then last season. Does suck losing to the Brewers though :(

I think some of you guys hate Gregg a little too much.

Never trust a man with two first names. Derrek Lee used to be the exception that proved the rule but now he's just part of the rule.

If we didnt have a superior option, it would be different.

So you'd rather have brought Gregg in to the spot Marmol was brought into?

Our superior option has a more important job.

Don't hate him, hate Lou. And don't let your visceral reaction to this cloud the fact that Marmol will save more games as the fireman than Gregg will blow as closer.

Are the Indians out of the race yet? Is Wood available?

We all know Kerry wouldn't blow a save against the Brewers in the first week of the season......

He didn't.

Whenever it was.

I know he blew a save against the Brewers, but I think XZero is thinking of the opener when Woody gave up runs a tie game and ended up not getting a decision (thanks to Fukudome).

BREWERS WIN THE PENNANT (I THINK!??!?!?!)

Oh well Weeks will get a nice fine for throwing equipment, douchebag.

we'd be celebrating the same for a walkoff win

Not slamming a helmet down in front of 2 other people... that's a fine. Not that it will really affect him at all, but it will be a little consolation prize for me I guess.

or like the catcher slamming a ball down in disgust at the call when the runner was clearly safe?

You don't get a fine for throwing a baseball at the ground... lol.

Are we really talking about fines or were you complaining about them celebrating a regular old win like it's the world series?

Because I'm pretty sure this is just as much a regular old loss.

There was as little wrong with the Brewers celebration as their was with Hill's display of disgust.

I agree... bad sportsmanship.

However, it's nice to know Weeks will have to pay a fine for that.

That said, I wouldn't mind trying Guzman at closer, as I feel he can miss more bats, but that would REALLY piss Marmol off.

Wouldn't have gotten the double play on that and Weeks was definitely safe.

with braun running? they had a better chance than they did at home.

and weeks was definitely safe.

The ball was deep in the hole. With Fatty running, maybe, but Braun, while not a speed demon, isn't the slowest guy in the world.

JMO, he had a better shot at the DP than throwing home with his arm strength.

Yeah. Where that ball was hit, I think the run was going to score regardless of what Theriot did unless he made a perfect throw home which, with his arm, isn't likely.

The top of the 8th was pretty boneheaded. With Soriano on deck with runners on the corners, someone needs to bunt, be it Marmol or Miles.

We do have Zambrano vs. Bush tomorrow and Dempster vs. Suppan for the next game, so the series is ours to win.

It seems like Gregg lost focus as soon as he got the first out in the 9th and didn't get it back until Weeks hammered him. That Duffy at bat was just inexplicable.

we had 2 great relievers with wood last year, sad Hendry wouldnt bring woody back. its early, if this was Oct 2, and we were tied in the standings, then id being flipping poop burgers

I thought Hoffpauir should have been in there instead of miles

That's what I was thinking as well, there's a good chance the Cubs are going score early and often vs Bush and Suppan.

the thing we can really take out of this is that Rickie Weeks will have to pay a fine (according to cynosure), and that makes Cynosure's evening, apparently.

Well he's replacing the beloved Kerry Wood, so that's strike one. He's not as good as our closer last year, the aforementioned Wood, strike 2. And he's pitched pretty bad in an admittedly small sample size so far this year.

Strike 3, we hate you.

Why would Weeks get a fine and Jose Valverde doesnt get one for jumping up and down like an idiot every time he gets a save, or does anything for that matter?

better than a win, if you ask me

Oh yeah, I just watched the replay on Comcast...Soriano broke IN on that ball hit by Weeks. Otherwise, he catches that ball. He is a pretty big goat as well.

But then again that goes back to Lou for pulling Fukudome of all people over Soriano defensively.

Seriously...when a ball is scalded like the one Weeks is...how can your first reaction be to break in? It reminds me of that game against St. Louis last year when he went in on two hits like that and blew the game because of it.

He had him struck-out.

Yea or hell if Guz can keep throwing the nasty stuff he was the other night, I wouldnt so much mind moving Marmol to closer and Guz can take Marmols spot. I just dont know how comfortable lou is using Guz 2 or 3 days in a row...

Correct me if I'm wrong but, as OF don't you initially break back on the ball then adjust in?
