Anyone getting a wristband today?

What games are you going to try for?

As usual, Opening Day, White Sox and Cardinals weekend summer games will be the most difficult ones to buy. I bet the Indians games sell out quickly with DeRosa and Wood on the other side of the dugout.

After that it will be any weekend game between Memorial Day and Labor Day, then the rest of the Cardinals games and any Brewers games.

I'm kinda broke, I think I'll just be going for Opening Day and goto games randomly throughout the season without the benefit of tickets in advance like I had last year.

The Tuesday night White Sox game is going to be the first sell out, but I'm pretty curious to see how Wednesday and Thursday day games do with those prices.

The Indians series and probably the Twins series will also be popular especially because of the lower price range relative to other "summer" weekend series like the Cardinals and Brewers.

On the whole, though, the home schedule kind of sucks this year. What the heck is up with a Monday night Memorial Day game? What a waste of a day off work.

I'll probably be heading down to get a wristband sometime around lunchtime. I don't think I've gotten one since HS.

I'm getting one just for the novelty. I doubt I can afford to take off work to stand in line. If I somehow get a really good wristband position (like 2005), I'll definitely consider it but not likely.

It's definitely fun to go down there if you get a decent wristband number. It's a festive atmosphere, everyone talking Cubs, wearing Cubs gear. Scalpers running around trying to offer you money for your tickets, etc.

Unfortunately, this year it looks like it will be brutally cold on Friday morning, so it probably won't be as lively. The year I went, I believe it was in the low to mid 40's so it was much more bearable.

I'm looking for one game against the Pirates in August. I'm going to be pissed if it's difficult to get those tickets. The rest of the time I just plan on finding tickets the day of the game.

Last year I got lucky and maxed out my tickets. Got every Sox game, and every Saturday game from June on. Not getting my hopes up this year, nor can I even afford to max out again. I am still taking the day off as it is a pretty fun day to just hang out and get some tickets. All I'm going for this year is Saturdays from June on again.

BTW, does anyone know what day is Paul Bako bobblehead day?

#3664. I got there just after 11 and it still took 25-30 minutes in line despite the line moving very quickly.

Don't people work?

This is going to be tricky for me. I had an interview with the Cubs last week, and if I get the job I want to work all the games, but I might not know if I have it or not until Friday morning, since they gave me a number and told me to call it if I haven't heard anything by Friday. If I don't get the job, then I'm going to be buying tickets online all day. But if they tell me they don't know yet, or they want me to come back for a second interview, then I'm pretty much screwed in getting tickets. Why did they have to do this to me?

With the economy and the playoff performance last year, I think I'm gonna like the secondary market this year.

you think you'll get tickets below face value on the secondary market? or am i misreading your post?

Yeah, its not impossible for that to happen at all. I mean White Sox/Cardinals game? Probably not, but a Wednesday night game against the Reds its very doable.

If you're smart you can get good values anytime. Remember the Red Sox series in 2005? That series had so much hype, the secondary market was making a killing. I sold some tickets to the weekend games for almost triple face (I kept my friday tickets). My friend got to Wrigley 10 minutes before the Friday game, talked to the first scalper he saw, and talked him down to face value. He sat 3 rows in front of me.

I have almost literally no money, so I'm going to be following SSR's lead and try secondary market later on.

It was possible to get tickets at or close to face the past couple years, before the economy tanked. There's going to be a lot less demand out there to drive up prices this year. There will still probably be enough to sell-out, but this selling season is the first such sports ticket selling season since the fall's fall.

There's much less of a need to take on the early risk and pay for tickets now that you won't use until the summer.

I'm not taking off work this year, and likely won't have the time to be on the computer much during the on-sale time. I'm planning a trip to Wrigley in the middle of May, but those tickets shouldn't be hard to get, so whatever I get I get.

Does anyone know if the dugout box, bullpen box, and bleacher box seats are being sold separately like usual, or will they go on sale Friday as well?

this sucks. i have class all morning an a job interview in the afternoon, so i'm mos def out of the loop on tickets this year. hopefully ryan is right.

Going for May 27, 28, 29, and 30. If I don't get them it's the secondary market for me as I have already got the hotel room. I'll be in front of my computer screen as soon as they open up the VWR. Don't think I'll have a problem I have always got the tix I wanted. I even got a Card weekend one year. Granted it was late April.

You might want to check with a fellow named Lee Elia. I believe he had some thoughts on the matter.

Before I won a quarter of squares in the Super Bowl, I wouldn't have been able to get tickets this year as I'm getting married in August and all the money is going towards that. However, thanks to the Steelers, I'm going to try and get two games out of a 12-game wish list. :)

Any advice on the wristbands? I overheard someone in line yesterday that he was about 2,200 off last year and showed up at 10:30 to see what number they were at. They already passed by him, so he probably could have gotten tickets by 10.

It's pretty hard to tell if it's worth going down there when the wristband numbers are random and not every one is given away.

I still don't get why people go through the effort of dealing with the wristbands and showing up in person.

You get to pay face value for the tickets?

Can't you do that buying online?

I'm pretty sure Ticket Master charges extra fees for tickets purchased online.
