You get to pay face value for the tickets?

Can't you do that buying online?

I'm pretty sure Ticket Master charges extra fees for tickets purchased online.

So people wait in-line to save the couple bucks? I'd think the time wasted would be worth more to them.

I guess it depends on how many tickets you're buying. If you're buying 20 tickets and Ticket Master charges an extra $10 per ticket in fees, you'd save $200 buying them in person for instance. Being charged face value is one of the main reasons I've kept my season tickets.

Not to mention that when you do get in front of the teller, you can purchase up to 42 tickets to whatever games you want. Better than waiting in the VWR for an hour for 1 game. From my experience, if you are within 2000 of the number, it is well worth going to Wrigley.

Based on last year, if you had an order with 6 tickets, it looks like the fees would come out to around $5-6 per ticket. More if you had less than 6 and I'm sure it'll be slightly higher this year.

If someone buys the maximum of 42 tickets, that's over $250 saved.

Well plus the box office tickets go on sale at 8 and online at 10. For the 1-2 highest demand games, the tickets are usually down to scattered singles by the time the online sale happens. You assure yourself of getting the tickets you want if your wristband is within ~1000 of the winning number.

I had an interview with the Cubs last week, and if I get the job I want to work all the games, but I might not know if I have it or not until Friday morning, since they gave me a number and told me to call it if I haven't heard anything by Friday.

I also interviewed and rec'd the same instructions. I kinda figure that they'll have a "thanks-but-not-this-year" message at the other end of the phone number. Nevertheless, it was definitely cool to interview in the Cubs locker room -- it really is as small as people say! Plus, I got to use the players' pissoir -- my big thrill for the year. \:D/

Were you as inspired by Roast's posting as I was?

Yeah, the clubhouse is unbelievably small; I had no idea that's actually where I was until I was sitting there a few minutes, and started looking around a bit, and then when it hit me, I was like, "Holy [expletive] [expletive]!" I probably had the stupidest grin on my face when they called my name.

One of my friends also interviewed and also got the same "call if you don't hear by Friday" thing. I think I really did pretty well, though, until the part where they gave me all these different scenarios, and how I would handle them, and then they said they had to go outside to confer.

I posted this elsewhere, but if you get kicked back to the VWR while trying to select tickets, you can go back to the previous page and have it still work. If the back arrow won't let you do it, use the following url to enable right-clicking and right-click to select back (you'll have to bookmark the url beforehand):

javascript:void(document.onmousedown=null);void(document.onclick=null);void(document.oncontextmenu=null)

Danonwaveland, I just called, it is a human being on the other end (thank God), she put me on hold for a couple minutes and then said that "they're still reviewing your application and as soon as they give it to us we'll give you a call."

Damn, second year in a row I've been within 1,000 of the selected number...in the wrong direction. Oh well, I probably wasn't going down there anyways unless I was within 300 or so.

My goal is opening day, the white sox night game, and a sat or sunday cardinals game in july.

I will be taking the day off as per usual, but like everyone buying far fewer tickets. Houses and engagement rings are expensive.

Agreed. My fiancee is a huge Cubs fan as well, and I am glad she understands that we won't be going to 9 games again this year, given the cost of tickets and driving 2 hours to each game.

Is someone going to post the link to the VWR again this year? I guess it doesn't really matter, but that made it easier on my life last year.

Good luck to all!!!

For firefox aren't you supposed to add an add on for the multi window to work well. Had it before but had reset my computer to the factory settings in the last year. I thought it was IE tab.

Tab mix plus is what I use.

After looking at the IE tab thing I realized that was for something else. Thank you Jon.

Since last year, tickets.com tends to send users back to the VWR at times when trying to select tickets. Entering that code into the url bar when that happens (or clicking on the bookmark if you create one in advance) enables right-clicking on tickets.com and lets you go back to the page before you got kicked back to the VWR. I've never tried it with IE, though.

Thanks, R-Train. I called and got the same message -- from a human voice. Good luck!
