Favre is 40 and very likely could break down. But it won't be as a result of the field.

Perhaps, but its still garbage.

Have you ever walked on it? It's pretty incredible stuff.

I'm sure there will always be cold weather cities with grass fields, but I'm not surprised that increasingly cold weather cities with open air stadiums are converting to Fieldturf. It feels so much like grass but doesn't get completely ripped up with bad weather like grass tends to do. In a few years I would expect there to be only about 2-3 teams left with grass in the northern half of the country.

Yeah, I've walked on it. It's junk compared to grass. Doesn't make me think of the word "incredible" in the least.

What makes it junk?

I've been on 3 fields that have field turf from high school/small college to Division 1. It feels just like grass, has great support and holds up much, much better than natural grass. Why do you think so many teams have switched even though it's often more expensive?

Compare it to the problems the Bears had with Soldier Field later on last year. It's much better than a frozen, chewed up or soggy natural grass field.

But all of the research has shown that field turf is not any worse than natural grass and some feel it can be better on joints. It's why so many college and pro teams have made the switch after they all started to avoid astroturf like the plague.

Exactly. I'm not sure why they're calling it garbage.

I wish the Bears would switch to FieldTurf like the Patriots did. The field is a disaster, especially for a defense that relies so much on its speed.

I've played sports on both and field turf is light years ahead of astro turf. My body felt beat up after soccer games on astroturf when I was 145 lbs and in awesome shape. My body felt less beat up after playing soccer on field turf 30 lbs. heavier and in not nearly the same shape. Not even close.

There is nothing wrong with field turf outside of the annoying little beads every now and then getting inside your shoe.

How about the Metrodome is garbage? Is that better?

Which doesn't impact him at all nor does it put him at a higher risk for injury which is what I was disputing. It helps him if anything.

Anyways getting away from the field stuff, here's what whatifsports.com projects:

Worth .05 more wins with the team passing much more than if they had Sage/Tarvaris. I disagree with a lot of the numbers.

Oh God. I'm going to assume you spilled something and didn't realize what you were typing.

Have you watched Bears games, especially from November to January, the last 4 or 5 years? The field is a mangled mess of green-painted dirt.

Messy football is football. Clean, sterile football is a commercially created package that doesn't hold the same interest and intrigue for me.

Swine flu. I think you need to get checked for swine flu.

Outdoor grass football is much better than synthetic field inside a garbage bag. But the Soldier Field turf is horrible. It's significantly worse than the high school field I played on. It's akin to the practice fields we used. It's a joke.

No kidding, those things are pretty annoying. I actually played a baseball game once on some really cheap field turf. The only dirt on the field was on the mound and around the plate. It was pretty weird. Even the area around the bases was turf that was brown colored.

And I'm sure that U2's huge stage and two concerts worth of people will do wonders for the turf at Soldier Field.

I can't wait until October 5th and November 1st.

Blitz, blitz, blitz.

Yep, I hope we knock his ass out.

Nov 1st is going to be so un real.

Is this the general feeling among Packers fans? How long will it take for these wounds to heal?

Yes it is. As far as how long it will take, I'd give it quite some time. Time heals wounds so he'll eventually be forgiven (for the most part), but I do think his legacy in Green Bay will forever be tarnished.

So do Packer fans boo him out of Lambeau like they should or are we still going to see half the damn stadium wearing a green number 4 jersey?

Years. This finally puts the Vikes ahead of the Bears in my book.

Exactly. That's how you beat him. Get him hearing footsteps and then he forces throws that even I could pick off.
