Can the playoffs please start soon so I can be done with the Niners and Raiders games.

We get the Rams and the Chiefs, who combined have won half as many games as the Niners and Raiders. Thankfully the semester is over on Friday, so I get to go home to where only the Rams have to be on.

About 75% of the NFLs crappiness is contained in the Bay Area, Missouri and Ohio. The other 25% is the Lions.

That's...some interesting math.

The Lions are so bad they add up to 25% on their own. :-k

Carolina clinches the #1 seed with a win but stands an excellent chance of falling into a division tie if they lose because they go to New Orleans in week 17 (no NFC South team has beaten another on the road) while Tampa and Atlanta play cupcakes.

It's not quite the ultimate all-or-nothing game because we'll make the playoffs no matter what but it's very very important.

It's kinda crazy the Panthers can get the number 1 seed with a win. Are you counting on them to be crappy again next year like they always seem to do after a playoff season?

Probably not, though a lot depends on what they do at QB. Delhomme's contract is up at the end of the year - they could keep him, try to get Cassel, draft someone, who knows.

With "Smash and Dash" (I love the mini-controversy over who came up with that name) back and Smith just turning 30 in May, I imagine they'll be pretty good again next year. Though I'll have to admit, playing the NFC North and AFC West this year (we were 7-1 in those games) probably helped a bit.

Makes for a lot of extra time on Sundays waiting for the night game, eh?

Jags are up 17-7 at halftime. Indy can't run the ball to save their lives tonight, but Peyton is 13/13.

that nelson guy has earned his injury. Shot to the head on a receiver followed by acting like you're asleep as he lies dazed on the ground. Classy.

Colts score 17 points in the 4th to pull out the win 31-24.

The only person I'd definitely put right with him is Adrian Peterson. Michael Turner deserves a mention too.

I'd vote Peyton Manning for MVP.

He should win it, without a doubt.

Yes definitely. I think if the 'Aints had managed to make the playoffs, it probably would have been Brees.

Peterson should get a lot of consideration. Favre will as well - which may be deserved. The Jets sucked last year and Favre has come in and now they're decent.

What I'd like to see, though, is Colt fans becoming more enraged as Peyton splits the MVP vote and ends in a tie with Kerry Collins.

But if they had made the playoffs, they wouldn't be the 'Aints, now would they?

He won't win it, but the Titans would be below .500 without Albert Haynesworth. I'd vote for him.

He might win my vote (if I had one) if the Titan defense looks like I expect it to the next couple of weeks. It's amazing the difference he can make on a defense.

He definitely should be top three, though (Peyton, Peterson, Haynesworth).

I don't really agree with that. But he is probably more valuable to his team that whoever wins the award. If you're voting for a lineman, it should be offensive and should be Chris Snee.

I really don't have an MVP pick, though. It was Portis. Then Brees. Then Warner. Heard whispers of Eli next. Now Peyton.

there are literally a dozen qb's (including rodgers and pennington) who have outplayed favre. take out favre's ONE really good game (6 tds vs. az) and he's well below average. and what a crap schedule they've played...

What about rookie of the year?

How do you pick between Matt Ryan, Forte, and Chris Johnson? Heck, Ryan Clady deserves major consideration too.

I'm sure Matt Ryan will run away with the award but there are a bunch of guys who deserve some consideration including Forte, Johnson and you.

I question whether he should get it or not. The additions of guys like Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace (I think they got him this past offseason) definitely helped, but would the Jets be where they are now with Kellen Clemens or Chad Pennington? They weren't last year with those two, so I doubt it.

Favre should not win it - he's not in my top three of Peyton, Peterson, Haynesworth - but consideration (i.e. top 5) isn't out of line, in my opinion.

I actually don't hate Madden like most do.
