Week 15: Saints (7-6) @ Bears (7-6) 7:15 PM NFLN/WPWR LOCAL

Posted
My players of the game (in order):

Manning

Hester

Adams

Gould

Raisin, when Dvorcek went down and I said free Adams, you said free Harrison.

Advantage Adams

AA has been impressive the last two weeks.

Harrison will be the best player on the interior of the defensive line next season unless Tommie Harris recovers to pre-injury 2006 form.

Harrison has the most talent, it's up to him to take that next step. Both should be ahead of Dvorcek.

Hester is impressing me, he might end up being that #2 WR.

I don't understand that 2nd Orton pick. He was looking right there. No way he didn't see the LB. He just tried to sneak it through. With that much on the line, come on don't try that stuff.

The first time I got Madden for PS2, I realized how easy it is to not see that dang LB.

at least we won

too bad we shot ourselves in the foot in no less than 3 games and got curbed stomped by our 2 rivals in incredibly important games and we don't really control our destiny.

I don't want to sound like i'm whining and moaning but its really upsetting to see Orton, who seemed to have made great strides, regress like this. (Its still probably injury related, also influenced by just how gosh damn bad our receivers are )

Ah, precision passing, one of the more difficult things to master, IMO, and I'm a casual player.

My friends always laugh at me and talk about how easy it is to put the ball where you want it, but whenever I try to do it the pass is either over-exaggeratedly lofted or incredibly short.

So let me recap my night:

I was excited to watch the game online only to have my internet crap out in the first quarter. I get it starting up again, found out Forte lost a toe, and I realize that nfl.com only shows like one series and its 5 minutes later. So I drive to a rat hole bar in Brown Deer, WI and sit with 20 drunk guy wearing hunters jackets even though deer hunting season ended two weeks ago. they smoke like a chimney and I have two different arguments with these guys who say farve would take Packers to the playoffs this year because of his leadership and moxie. arrrrgh......

anyway, Orton was god awful, the defense played really good, and I sadly agree with Collinsworth that Hester was the difference in those last two drives. Go Bears and Cardinals!!!!!!!

He was the difference. But he didn't "put on an absolute show" with his 46 yards receiving. He forced the Saints into making mistakes because they couldn't cover his speed. But that's far different from putting on some kind of spectacular 200 yard receiving masterpiece.

Well that was frustrating. I think the Bears last two games may be trickier than some think nationally, but the Vikes have to just count on going 2-1 to hold off the Bears.

I really like our chances against Atlanta at home. Giants game is so tough to call because of the circumstances. Sunday should at least be close but who knows because it will be dependent on how Tarvaris plays. It was the Lions but he looked much more calm and did hit a couple of big 3rd downs in tight spots. Looked like he did in the preseason before his injury.

any chance the Giants have anything to play for in that last game against the Vikings?

I dunno. Carolina keeps winning.

I heard Jacobs might not play this weekend or something. At some point not having Plax, not having Jacobs........you can't just dip into the depth chart forever and still win all your games. They looked pretty average last week too.

Sure there's a chance.

If they do, that means they likely lost to Dallas this weekend, hurting our wild card hopes. I realize thats not what we are focusing on, but in a perfect world, we'd be in a position to get that playoff spot if the division falls through.

"Enough Ced: Cedric Benson believes he could have gained 1,800 yards if he had the holes to run through that Forte has had this season, the former Bears running back told NFL.com."

"My time there was short," Benson said. "I sat for two years. The third year I was hurt. The fourth year, this year, I got cut before the season. The fourth season was going to be my time. It looked like we would have had a 1-2 punch with me and Forte in there. He would have gotten the ball and that would have worked for me.

"He is having a great year, but when I see the highlights, I see holes. I see them using him in the slot, something they didn't do with me. If I was there right now with the holes I see, I'd probably have 1,800 yards right now. I definitely would have 1,500 by now. I congratulate him on all of his success. He is taking advantage."

wow, SportsNite and the Tribune made it sound a lot worse.

Thanks for eliminating us for the second time in three years.

Thank Reggie Bush for motivating our defense after that taunt and then somersault into the end zone 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure the Bears still think of that when they go against the Saints.

Speaking of which, did anyone else notice that the 2-3 times that Urlacher was in on tackles on Reggie he didn't offer him a hand getting up? Kinda made me chuckle after the 2nd time I saw it happen.

I highly, HIGHLY doubt it makes that much of difference. It might be evident when seeing Urlacher not help Bush up or something of that sort, but to think that something that occurred two years ago is capable of making players run faster and make smarter decisions or something is silly.

It's kinda funny that in spite of this exciting win, the next time the Bears step on the field, they could theoretically be eliminated from the playoffs.

They may not be able to win the division, but they can't be eliminated from playoff contention, since the 6 spot (Dallas/Atlanta) is only 1/2 game ahead of them, and Atlanta plays Minnesota.

Good game. Orton and Kreutz made that game way more interesting than it should have been. NO moved 32 yards and got 14 points. Got their other TD on a 45 yard drive. Defense played well, despite being on the field too long, other than some weak tackling on Pierre Thomas and 2 bad 3rd and long plays.

Anthony Adams was excellent for the 2nd week in a row. I thought Nick Roach played well, for the first time as a starter. Briggs was a beast as usual. I thought both DEs did well. Graham was solid again and took Lance Moore completely out of the game, other than 5 extremely short passes. In fact everyone on D played pretty well other than Kevin Payne, who did nothing.

Hester beat his man all night, and sometimes beat two men. His route running was superb! Best I've ever seen him. He knew where to be in the zone. He was aggressive in his routes. Both pass interference calls though were balls he needs to catch. He was clearly impeded on both, but was free by the time the ball hit off his hands.

Happy with the win, but someone please explain why Rashied Davis is active every week when he drops at least two balls per game. He's brutal. Might as well let Bennett play - why is he in the doghouse?

2 things that bothered me:

-That fake punt call. Winning with 9 minutes left not even quite at midfield and you try a fake punt? You never want your biggest pass in the game to that point thrown by your punter. That said, I could only see the scoreboard replay but I completely thought he caught it and the ground caused the fumble. I guess my friend said he didn't get a second foot down with control or something?

-The defense should have ADJUSTED (I know, not a word the Bears staff uses) and used more man coverage on third and long situations instead of letting the Saints go over the middle for 15 yards EVERY TIME. Frustrating to know exactly whats coming and not see them stop it. If I knew it was coming, they had to have right?
