Now that KC has acquired Crisp, I would think DeJesus would be available. How about:

Cubs trade: Marquis (plus cash), Cedeno, Hart, Veal

Cubs receive: DeJesus, Mahay

Dejesus isn't the big LH power bat, but is a solid player which offers versatility.

DeJesus/Johnson in CF allows better defense with Fukudome in RF. Lots of lefty-righty options for Lou in OF with DeJesus/Johnson/Fukudome/DeRosa/Soriano/Hoffpauir along with 2B with DeRosa/Fontenot. Mahay gives us another lefty option in the pen.

I don't think there's a difference between DeJesus and Kosuke, and I don't really want two of them in the OF, even if one platoons with Johnson.

100% how I feel, TT.

I think there may be better options than DeJesus, but it's obvious the Cubs are in a win now mode and I have my doubts Kosuke can put up a: .310/.384/.491 line against RHP next year. I doubt he could come close to the .302/.336/.391 against LHP either.

I'm not saying that I would trade Pie straight up for DeJesus, even anything close to that. And if it were up to me, I'd be fine with Pie or Fukudome out there as long as we upgraded significantly in RF. But, the Cubs seem to be going all out for next year and I'm not sure either Pie or Kosuke could match DeJesus in production.

EDIT: I should add that I'm assuming DeJesus would be added as a CF, in addition, to upgrading in RF. I don't think DeJesus is the big splash Hendry is looking to make.

Personally, I dont think its to late for Kosuke, as long as he can work the Fukucopter out of his game. If we can get a worthwhile lefty to play RF, then by all means, go for it, but if not, Id just assume not go trading for guys we really dont need, such as anybody on the Kansas City Royals. Between Fukudome, DeRosa, Johnson, and Pie, surely, we can get 2 solid outfielders.

The Royals are gonna actually want something of good value for DeJesus. Not our back up SS, a Double A pitcher who can't throw strikes, a crappy middle reliever in Kevin Hart and Jason Marquis. If were gonna get DeJesus and Mahay, were gonna have to trade guys like Pie, Marshall, Hill, Theriot or Fontenot. The Royals been playing DeJesus in LF so this trade doesn't make them have to trade DeJesus.

If we're adament about Teahen or DeJesus, what about seeing what the Royals would want for Greinke?

I tried working on deals for Greinke quite awhile ago, but it sounds like they're serious about him not being available.

I live in KC and I think most trade proposals are underestimating the love KC has for DeJesus. The fans (what little of them there are (I'm a secondary Royals fan)) would go into an uproar if we traded him for Marquis and Cedeno. Not to mention they have Avilles who looks to be there long term. I guess they could throw Cedeno in at second.

and also you don't work for the cubs.

KC would be getting screwed in that deal, but in general, I support the Cubs going after Dejesus as the CF'er.

Of course, I'd still want them to go after Bradley as well, leaving 4 expensive OF'ers as well as Johnson being expensive for a bench guy for 3 spots and seeing what sticks for 162 games. It doesn't help that both Soriano and Bradley are injury prone and who knows what to expect from Fukudome as the Cubs would be making a mistake by having him as their starting RF'er next year, IMO.

Apparently Milwaukee is interested in DeJesus if they do end up trading Mike Cameron...since the Royals seem pretty content with the players they have everywhere but second base, Rickie Weeks' name is getting tossed around. Most of the Weeks speculation stems from even more speculation that the Brewers would get Robinson Cano from the Yankees for Cameron. Subtracting Cameron and Weeks for DeJesus and Cano just for the sake of getting more lefties into the lineup would be pretty dumb, IMO, but I guess that's Melvin's mission this season (not to mention Cano would be just as bad defensively as Weeks and can't take a walk, and DeJesus would be a huge defensive downgrade from Cameron).

With Torres, Gagne,Sheets,Sabathia already coming off the books in addition to possibly trading Cameron? The Brewers will have a lot of cash to spend.

Bush, Capuano, Fielder, Hardy, Hart, McClung and Weeks are arbitration eligible. So those guys could get good size raises, and who knows if they will get a payroll bump or not. Plus they have alot of holes to fill, thats why they could be looking to trade Cameron. So they can get his salary off the books and hopefully fill a few holes.

That's like saying Daniel Cabrera will be fine as soon as he stops walking guys, or saying that Corey Patterson will be fine as soon as he stops sucking at baseball. I don't know if there's much Fukudome can do about the Fukucopter unless he completely remakes his swing and stops doing what he's been doing his whole career.

Are the Brewers trying tot rade Cameron? If so, why? He had a pretty good year for you guys and from everything I've heard/read he's been great to the city.

I don't think they're actively trying to trade him, but they're certainly open to offers.

Honestly, I can't think of a good reason to trade him. Some of his main offenses, depending on who you ask: he's making $10 million next year, he hits right-handed, he's not a good contact hitter, he strikes out too much, he misplayed two or three balls this year that cost the Brewers a game (yes, that's actually a reason some people don't like him), he "choked" in the NLDS, etc.

Really, you're right -- the Brewers have no good reason to trade him. He brings a lot of offensive value at CF, he's still one of the premier defensive outfielders in the game at age 36, and he would've made a run at 30 HR and 90 RBI last year had he not missed the first month of the season (I know the counting stats suck, but those numbers would've been among the team leaders). Honestly, I think he's worth the $10 million considering the offensive production he brings and how many plays he's able to make in the outfield that others couldn't. Ryan Braun would've looked a hell of a lot worse in left field if he didn't have Cameron ranging over to cover his butt so often. Right now, it looks like Cameron's just getting criticized for being too much like the rest of the Brewers offense -- lots of power, lots of strikeouts, not a lot of contact, hits right-handed.

Well I'd be remiss to not propose one of those all together plausible 5 player deals:

Theriot, Hill, Wuertz, Castillo. Colvin

for

Greinke and DeJesus

That leaves enough money to sign Furcal after trading Marquis.

And as a Royals GM: DENIED!

So do I and everyone assumes Aviles is going to be the second baseman now that Grudz is gone.
