We like Kerry, we think Kerry is a closer in this league. Life would be a lot easier if Kerry was 31, mediocre and cost one of the few prospects we had.

I'm pissed. Jimbo has alot of making up to do this offseason already, especially if he expects Kevin Freaking Gregg to fill the hole. Here's to hoping Gregg is just someone the Padres were interested in.

 

With the way Hendry just came out and said Wood is gone, I think it's pretty obvious that Gregg is staying.

If that's the case, which I think is possible, then our bullpen would be even worse. Marmol and who? Samardzija struggled down the stretch, Guzman is always hurt, Hart hasn't done anything, Ascanio is unproven, and Wuertz/Gaudin/Cotts are inconsistent at best.

I'm hoping we'll at least offer arbitration and get two picks.

 

I'm not happy with the way the door was shut on this. I would have rather seen Hendry do something along the lines of offer him a 1 year deal, and tell him it's on the table if he doesn't get the multiyear from another team that he wants, so he can have another healthy year and increase his value. Or even a token 3 year deal. Whatever, we should have left something respectful on the table while allowing him to see what's out there for him.

I know that one of the predictor, free agent things, sites had him ending up there. That would be just too much.
