He was on the score at 3pm. He says Lee is expendable because he still has value and the Cubs must get more left handed hitters in the lineup.

He basically said the Cubs can't win with the core group in the playoffs because they are suspect to good right handed pitching.

Most of us know that but the D-Lee thing was interesting.

Obligatory "Steve Stone is dumb" post.

I can't see it happening because he is viewed as the team leader.

I'd love to see him traded and see the Cubs go out and sign Tex.

Who sees him that way though? I feel like he's just sort of assumed to be the "leader" because he's been around for a long time and comes across as calm cool and collected, plus he was really good one year.

DeRosa and Theriot are the most quoted. Before long Soto is going to be the leader. But what exactly does a team leader lead? Lee has shied away from any outward leadership role, I doubt this team would suffer from a lack of his presence.

Could Lee be sent to Baltimore once they lose out on Tex possibly? A deal involving Lee and Roberts as they main pieces would be interesting.....

Would he accept a trade to Baltimore?

We do know he doesn't like fans that boo. Do they boo in Baltimore?

It won't happen because Lee won't want to go to any team that wants him. Unless the Mariners pony up with an extension.

Slider low and away will get him out.

sadly, that could be said about everyone in the Cubs lineup these past few post-seasons

I've grown a bit tired of the matter-of-fact-prediction.

Maybe Dempster and Stoney can take their act out on the road together. I hear Solomon Torres is looking for a headliner for his wonderful routine.

Trade him somewhere in the division so the Cubs can get easy DPs... time to develop Hoffpauir! (Even though he's already old)

Yeah right, he'd probably go back to 2005 form and win an MVP.

For the Pirates, carrying them to the WS and having a .583 AVG during the post season.

The title of this thread doesn't agree with this post. This post basically states Stone's opinion that Lee is expendable, etc. while the title suggests that Stone has information that Lee will be traded.

I don't think he has that much value given his age, contract and production. Many of us think we can move him and sign Texeira. Not happening.

We also know that Baltimore likes him as they nearly traded for him before we stepped in and stole him away.

Stone said he believes that Lee will be traded but just backed it up with what the op said.

Of course he also talked about how he would be leery of picking up Harden's option because he can't pitch every 5 days (said something like every 9th day) and that kills your rotation. Said of course he's almost unhittable when healthy but rarely is and walks too many batters. He would just pick up the option to use him in a trade.

I'd sign Tex before trading away DLee, though. If you trade Lee and don't sign Tex, then what?
