Game 2 wrap

You've got to let this flow over you and consume you for a couple hours. You have to. "Z" was pitching a great game, he's feeling good, the double play gets turned, we go back into the dugout and the whole game is different. Our offense is able to relax and it's different.

But when you find yourself down 5-0, a team that has a 1-0 lead in the series, they're able to relax, Billingsley is able to pound the strike zone, their hitters are a lot more patient, a lot more calm. They're trying to have good at-bats and tack on runs. We're trying to press to get the score tied and take the lead. For me, this is terrible. I don't know -- I'll be up for awhile tonight.

Did anyone see the game times for Games 4 and 5 if the Cubs make it that far?

Game 4 is scheduled to begin on Sunday night at 9:25 PM, meaning it will end around 12:30 Chicago time and 1:30 East Coast time

Game 5 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 8:30 PM from Wrigley. I love how we are playing a west coast time schedule even though 3 of the 5 games are in Chicago.

Alright, I'll stop. I am talking like Games 4 and 5 are even possible.

The other tentative games on Sunday are being played in Milwaukee (Noon CT), Chicago (3 p.m. CT), and Boston (6:15 p.m. CT). Which game would you like to have played at 9 or 10 p.m. local time (i.e. where the game is being played) to have the Cubs game be played earlier? This happens every single year with the teams on the West Coast. When those teams are at home, they're going to be playing at 9 p.m. CT.

Game 5 I'll agree with you on. I don't see why they've announced times for those yet. In the NL, you've got two teams down 2-0. It's likely that neither team gets there, let alone both teams. If somehow the Cubs make it to Game 5 and the Brewers don't, they should absolutely move it an hour or so earlier.

This is just MLB trying to televise all 9 innings of each and every game.

I loved this article. Whoever said winning our first world series in 100 years was going to be easy? If we win tomorrow, I'm going to be really excited about this team again.

I like the fact that a non-Chicago media based writer still believes the Cubs can get there and win (and I do believe Kornheiser also is still on the bandwagon) but right now, I find it hard to get excited about this team. People can spew out stories how this team is "pissed" and all that and how they could do the UNPOSSIBILITY, but's let's face the Cubs don't have the history of coming back. Do the Cubs have the 84 Padres in them? Or the 86 Red Sox? Or the 04 Red Sox? Right now, I don't see it, and I will remain confident that by this team next week, we will be dissecting how the Phillies destroyed the Dodgers.

I know it means utterly nothing to anything in terms of the Cubs' chances, but I really love Mark DeRosa. Dude really seems to love being a Cub and I know he's certainly not alone, but he seems to take this stuff hard.

Get 'em tomorrow, Mark. We can do this.

I actually would have expected them to be in a state of shock. But Kap said they are pissed and its pretty obvious.

If it was me, I'd have been pissed after Game 1 when there was still a chance of coming back.

Too little too late IMO

Who cares if they are pissed? Does that even matter in baseball? This goes back to the fact that if they didn't have enough to play for in the first 2 games, and losing both games only caused them to get pissed and win, then they have bigger problems.

lets play guess the lineup

1 soriano, lf

2 fontenutter, 2b

3 lee, 1b

4 ramirez, 3b

5 derosa, rf

6 edmonds, cf

7 soto, c

8 theriot, ss

9 harden, p

now lets do some predictions:

1. Soriano waves at five sliders on the outer half

2. fontenutter gets three blistering knocks only....

3. for derrek lee to erase him twice in gidps

4. aramis ramirez goes 1 for 4, but thanks to derrek lee comes to bat with no runners in scoring position

5. mark derosa, gets a hit

6. edmonds strikes out on fastballs up and hits his patented flyouts to the warning track twice

7. soto calls seven consecutive fastballs to manny who deposits another one in the bleachers

8. theriot's noodle arm causes three infield singles, one by furcal, one by martin and one by dewitt

9. harden dominates...only to see lou yank him after 75 pitches to save him for game 1 of the NLCS.

10. bob howry gives up a home run to manny.

11. jeff samardzija's MIA at the ND football game against Stanford. Ironically, he sees harder hitting than what the offense puts out

12. neal cotts comes in for a crucial AB to ethier, leaves a fastball down the middle and watches it knock in the winning run

13. the cubs go quietly in the ninth 1-2-3 to lose 5-3.

Why is it that i don't agree with many of these predictions? And, i actually stopped reading this after the 7th one.

Soriano 2-5, HR

Fontenot 1-4, 2B, BB

Lee 1-4, IF single (lol), sac fly

Aramis 2-4, 2 singles

DeRo 0-4, error, sad blog post

Soto 4-4, 4 HR

Reed 0-3, BB, amazing catch

Theriot 0-4

Harden 6 IP, 4 K, 5 BB, 1 H, 2 R

Howry 0.1 , 3 h, 3 r

Marmol 1.2 walks bases loaded, strikes out 5 in a row

Wood 1 ip, 28 pitches, 2BB, 2K, gets third out on deep fly to RF

I cannot imagine how angry I will be if Howry is put into a close elimination game where the starter goes at least 5 innings and ends by the 12th inning

Sure, if you believe that then I got property about 90 miles south of Miami you might be interested in. This team has shown very little when faced with real adversity. (Regular season doesn't coount) This team---90% the same---faced the same situation last yr, and look what happen. So, yes I do think the Cubs history will play a part---if for nothing else it gets in the heads of the players---in whether or not the Cubs can come back. Real or not.

I may not be on here to get this in before the game starts tomorrow:

Let's freaking do this [expletive]. These Cubs have gotten up off the mat before, and they sure as hell can do it again. We have the single most unhittable pitcher in baseball ready to roll tonight, and a fly ball pitcher who's been awesome recently waiting to go tomorrow. There is no reason we can't play just as well in these games as we have badly in the first two.

Go Cubs. We're not done.

All you can do is win the game in front of you. I'm glad these guys are pissed, they should be. I don't if it will make any difference, but you've just got to take it one game at a time.

There's a game Saturday night. The job is: win the game you are about to play. That's it. That's all. Nothing else.

Rich Harden's better than Rich Hill, but these all sound like the things we were saying prior to last year's Game 3. Then Chris Young got a straight fastball as the first pitch of the game and we were all http://www.ufck.org/forums/images/smilies/banana-still.gif
