Rich Harden's better than Rich Hill, but these all sound like the things we were saying prior to last year's Game 3. Then Chris Young got a straight fastball as the first pitch of the game and we were all http://www.ufck.org/forums/images/smilies/banana-still.gif

Harden's much better than Rich Hill. Anything can happen, but the Cubs need to come out on fire and Harden needs to shut them down.

I was thinking about the similarities to last year, but screw that.

Last year has nothing to do with now.

We are still alive and still have a chance to do what we want to do.

It starts with this game.

Every series is now 2-0. Which team has the best chance of pulling of a miracle? Has to be us considering all the match-ups. No?

Dammit! I'm getting sucked back in. If we can just win tonight....

Looks like Fontenot is in, DeRosa to RF

Expect a different look for the Cubs. Mark DeRosa will start in right field and Mike Fontenot at second base when the best-of-five series against Los Angeles shifts to Dodger Stadium. That means Kosuke Fukudome, who has batted .217 since the All-Star break, is the odd man out.

"We're fully expecting to win two games out here and bring it back to Chicago. That's the mind-set we have and that's the mind-set we'll continue to have until proven otherwise. We've put ourselves at a huge disadvantage, but I like our pitching staff."

Good. Fontenot should be in the lineup.

Kuroda is going to be a bitch for the Cubs, he does everything well that shuts down this Cubs offense as far as throwing strikes to stay ahead not getting into hitter's counts, good command of his FB. He uses his 4 seamer to get ahead in the count and then the sinker with two strikes to get the LH'ed hitter to swing weakly at a pitch falling out of the zone to ground out weakly and use the slider against RH'ers. His slider is good enough to get Soriano to chase on any count as well the other Cubs hitters occasionally on two strikes, espec. when they're pressing like they have. Against the lefties, he'll use his splitter and FB mainly, his splitter isn't an outpitch like Samardzija's when its on, it's more like a change-up as he throws for it for stikes on the lower 3rd of the plate.

Cubs are going to need to be aggressive early in the count and the opposite field (broken record), they can't high pitch count him out of the game, he'll throw strikes and hopefully his FB command is off to where his FB tails out over the plate and that he'll hang some splitters ala Dempster to Loney.

Today is the day - yesterday I picked my "Believe" bracelet up from the place I left it in 2004 and put it back on my wrist. The gods are now on our side.................

abolish the 5 game series

The Cubs did it to themselves. It would be one thing if the games were low-scoring and close, but they played their worst two games of the season in games 1 and 2. If it was 5 or 7 games, the Cubs would still be in big trouble right now.

This isn't the fault of the 5-game series. It's the fault of the supposed "best team" in the National League.

Alright, I set up my Jobu shrine to help win this game:

Framed picture of Kerry Wood (1998), surrounded by a can of Old Style, a shot of vodka in a Cubs shot glass, and a five dollar bill.

Hopefully this will appease the Gods....

I wish this was an earlier game.

More time to get tanked to kill the pain.

You'll be too drunk to watch Harden shut them down.
