This is the closest I've ever come to swearing in my life

HOLY HELL DOES THAT SUCK. There goes my dream of going to postseason games this year. Holy freaking hell does that freaking suck.

This is worse news than the Z and Harden injuries

One game, two ticket limit if you get selected.

Well I'm not happy. I was able to easily get tickets for games 3 and 4 of the NLDS last year, along with an NLCS game. Stupid fairness...

I got 2 games last year too...unfortunately the cubs never made it to those games. Now theres no way I'll get them this year. Anger. Anger. Anger.

Its not fairness. If fans are willing to devote their time to going through a vwr, then they should get rewarded with tickets. Not this effen commie lottery BS.

I wasn't going to be able to afford games anyway. And I probably wouldn't have been around for the VWR.

So whatever.

Really? According to the story on Cubs.com, face for NLDS tickets will range from $25 to $100 (bleachers $60), and NLCS tickets will go for $30 to $150 (bleachers $100). Considering what those same tickets will likely go for on StubHub and eBay, these prices are a steal.

For those complaining about the lottery system, at least stop and consider that perhaps this gives a better chance for actual Cubs fans to attend the payoff games, rather than a bunch of bandwagoner VWR winners and handshaking Chicago eliterati. Your chances to get tickets may be worse, but your chances to get good seats may be better.

EDIT: is anyone else a little concerned that the lottery sign-up page isn't a secure site? They're not asking for SSNs or anything, but I'd be more comfortable with an https.

apparently I'm a bandwagon VWR winner and not a cubs fan. Thanks

I don't care where I would've sat for a playoff game.

And don't get me started on the BS two ticket limit.

I have a question. It says the same person can not have multiple applications. But, can you have multiple people from the same address apply? (As long as they meet the requirements of being 18 and having a credit card)?

The fewer tickets kind of sucks for those who want to go to multiple games or take a group. But, actually shouldnt this increase the chance that more fans will get to see at least one game. Now instead of one family going to 3 home games, 4 persons a piece. That creates 10 extra tickets for other people to get in the lottery.

I wonder if this will drive down like stubhub prices just a bit though considering a wider variety of people may be able to land at least 2 tickets. One that will be a wider variety of families not having to buy their tickets off face value. Two alot of people who would have landed 4 tickets last year, gone with a buddy and then sold the other 2 tix wont be out there this year.

This is probably a lottery to sell off the obstructed view seats. You know the ones where you can see a support beam and each foul pole. At least you can say you were at the game.

Gimme a break. I was obviously referring to the masses of bandwagon fans that will come crawling out of the woodwork once the Cubs clinch a playoff spot, all scrambling to get tickets, thus making it tough for actual die-hards to get theirs. At least the lottery system gives everyone an equal chance, unlike the VWR and it's inherent potential for abuse.

Don't take things so personally. Sheesh.

I think it's quite the opposite. Lotteries encourage far more people to enter and try for tickets who otherwise would not have bothered.

Opening up a ton of windows isn't some hidden trick. Most people figured that out many years ago and I'm sure a quick google search would give anyone the answer. Or you could spend a minute figuring out which url you need during the 30 minutes before tickets go on sale. Many people do have multiple windows, but they stop at 10 instead of in the hundreds. It isn't hard work. But what's even easier is submitting a lottery entry, of which there will be far, far more than the number of people who would have tried through a VWR.

I don't think you should expect anyone here to be happy about this decision. It was easy to get NLDS and NLCS tickets last year and was going to be relatively easy again this year if you had the people and took the time. Now, the odds are quite slim. The only hope is if this will be unlike the other MLB team lotteries and they'll actually have a fair amount of people get selected (not unlike the lottery for the dugout, bleacher, and bullpen box seats). I assume they'll still use a VWR, so perhaps they just want to try and cap the number of people trying for the sake of the tickets.com servers. I kind of doubt it, though.

As for the specific seats, those won't change. Nor will the quantity. It will be the 200, 500, and some 400 level seats that aren't season tickets, as well as bleachers, just like last year.
