I enjoyed reading the comments on this blog to find out what A's fans think Harden should command. Of course every teams fans overvalue their players, but its fun to read.

The first comment suggested the Cubs should trade Vitters, Murton and Samardjia...............for Blanton

Take Vitters and Samardzjia out of the deal, and it sounds good to me.

Oakland is only 5 or 6 games behind LA... Are we sure they'll be selling?

If I were them, and could get a good deal for Rich Harden, I would be. As Vance said, Beane goes all in or all out. If that 5-6 becomes 8 prior to 7/31, he'll sell if we offer a good deal.

Yeah, if you were Beane, but Beane is Beane, and Beane never sells. Perhaps he's looking at the pythag and thinking his team should be in first. Odds are it's going to take a huge offer to entice him to make a move.

But what if I am Beane?

You never know with Beane. He could be looking at the pythag, but that really only tells part of the story. Its a useful tool, but not an absolute indicator.

I'd expect a package built around Gallagher. Incidentally, I'd prefer to keep Gallagher over Hill at this point.

Then I'd like to work on patching you through to Hendry's receptionist.

I tried calling but he was in a meeting. I think he's ducking my call, though.

this thread is already making me tired

I'm waiting until it reaches Brian Roberts status.

Unless and until we get some people posting some inside junk from the A's equivalent to Bigbird (Big Elephant?) this thread will not approach the greatness that the Brian Roberts Thread.

At this point in their careers, Marshall and Hill are comparable pitchers, with a slight edge to Hill, but not enough to say he is a "better pitcher."

Hill's career: 4.37era 1.268whip with a 106 ERA+ in 57 starts

Marshall's careers: 4.76era 1.445whip with a 97ERA+ in 46 starts

Wait, what? You realize those numbers aren't even close to each other, right?

Yes, but that doesn't mean Hill is "better" per se, his ERA may be a hell of a lot "lower", and the WHIP are completely "different", but all things being "equal" they are the "same" and none is "better" than the "other".

whoa...i am not one of the "Hill can do no wrong" folks on here, but holy crap man...i have seen hill on his game and it is nasty, marshall is good, but hill can and has been dominant...

That's a very large sarchasm right there.

sarchasm? whatever...i guess we are both still sleepy

See my sig for a definition.

oh, i see what you did there...kudos

Why can't Hudson get his own thread?

harden needs someone's name to lean against in the subject thread or he'd fall off the page

It was an intentional misspelling guys. Get it? Large sarchasm? Look for the double meaning.

Murton/Patterson/Gallagher for Harden and a minor leaguer.

Time to kill this thread unless we still think Jimbo can land Hudson too.

Kidding aside, does anyone think that the Cubs could at this point? Adding Hudson to the mix would be amazing.
