You could probably get either of those guys for something real cheap, plus they should be better than the back end of our rotation right now (even though Gallagher has been good lately).

You don't think one of Hill, Marshall or Gallagher can be just as good as Randy Wolf? And without the price?

I would think about giving Lieber another start. I know he was giving up homers to Joe Morgan last time out, but he throws strikes, and has been pretty effective otherwise.

I never liked catching the throws at first like the one that Cedeno just threw. It isn't that they are hard to catch at all, just that they are kinda "tweener throws" in deciding whether to catch it glove up or glove down. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Being pessimistic isn't one. I don't really notice his posts a lot, but just to make sure, I went back and read his last 20 posts before posting that.

 

I agree with you here. His behavior in the game threads does have me wondering if he's really a Cubs fan. He's either annoyingly pessimistic, which would not have him breaking any rules. Or he's not a Cubs fan but masquerades as one so he can troll. If that's the case, he should be banned. I don't know which it is, so I've just put him on ignore.

I'm one of the biggest pro-Hill guys on this site, but I don't think it's very realistic to expect he'll make a contribution with the big league team for the remainder of this season. Gallagher would be a good 5th starter, but if we managed to acquire another starter, do you really think Lou would keep Gallagher in the rotation ahead of Marquis? That's really never been his thing.

 

Marshall's a question mark. I like the guy, but he always has a hard time going 5 innings when he's with the big league team.

 

Again, it's a legit thing to be worried about.

regardless, lou can't keep shuffling the rotation to have gallagher pitching every 9-10 days and expect him to stay sharp. i don't get why lou skipped his to start vs the orioles. at this point, i'd be looking at off-days to give dempster an extra day of rest, not to start him as often as possible.
