We really need to take 3 from the Giants. I can almost guarantee a loss tommorow, and the Cards are next, and they always play us hard.

We start to get our players back when the Cardinals series rolls around though.

We really dont need an all star team to beat the Giants. The only guy Im really worried about there is Linecum. Matt Cain rocked us last year, but hes not doing so hot this year. Hes not doing bad at all, but hes beatabe. And then theres Zito. Last season, The Cubs were the only team who didnt have him figured out last year, but hopefully theyve watched some video between then and now.

As for the Brewers, the only way Id be really worried about them is if they managed to land Sabathia.

The bottom is not falling out. Every team goes through bad stretches. If we played .500 ball the rest of the year we'd finish 89-73. We've been a much better than .500 team for about a 200 game stretch now.

The only thing that bothers me is that we aren't playing like the World Series favorite like we were annointed in the first half.

Agreed. This is defintely a low point to the season, but the pieces will be coming back together soon. While I feel that The Cards and Brewers are capable of catching us at one point, I cant see either of them running away with anything. It may be the year, but it wont be easy.

I have a bad feeling that the bottom is falling out.

Everybody says that every time we go through a little rought patch.

or in the case of erik, a bad inning

Nice to know I have fans.

And come on.. can you blame me? Can you blame any of us for expecting the worst around every corner? You do realize what team we root for, right?

You sound like a fun guy. I mean, Truffle is calling you out about how overtly negative you are. That's like Flava Flav calling someone "really black"

I really don't care what Truffle or anyone else thinks. If he doesn't like what I post, there are ways to ignore me. The fact that he hasn't tells me that he doesn't find me as bad as one would think. It's unfortunate that he chose to attack me in a personal manner, but whatever gets you to sleep at night, I guess.

And I find it funny that I'm singled out when quite often (note: not ALWAYS, but often) I'm posting generally the same sentiments as others in game threads and elsewhere when things aren't going well.

Yes you are. I'm impressed. Even more impressive is the fact that I haven't been too pessimistic about this team either.

Some of you really need to get a grip. We're 4-7 in our last 11 games. So what? There's a reason we're 18 games over .500 and that's one good thing about having such a good record. When injuries happen, you have some breathing room before you get your team back afloat. I'm really not worried about this team at all.

Let's not forget that the White Sox are a pretty good team, especially at home. It's not like these are embarrassing losses. Losing 2 of 3 to the Reds and the Nationals was much more embarrassing than this series has been so far.

I'm annoyed but not worried by these games. The Cubs would have to do a lot different from April-mid June to not make the playoffs at this point, and while I don't think we're a 100-win team like we played like early on, we're not an 85-win team like last year either.

Jeez 52 pages I'm impressed. Right now I think we are spoiled a bit and coming down from a high. Even normal 100 win teams have periods like this. The Red Sox go on streaks both way every year and still end up with or close to the best record in baseball.

Worse than the Yankees for whatever reason, probably because their fans bitch more

This team pisses me off.

I get that feeling too, but how many times did we all have it last year?

Yeah, this is nowhere near the mass hysteria after the 3 games at Florida last year.
