Saturday, June 7, 2003 was one of the most memorable games in a memorable season. Cubs vs. Yankees at Wrigley Field. Clemens vs. Wood; Clemens going for win #300. That's the game where Choi and Wood collide, with Choi being taken off the field in an ambulance and winding up on the DL. His replacement, Eric Karros, hits a three-run dinger in the 7th to give the Cubs a 3-1 lead (2 more runs score in the 8th; the final score is 5-2 Cubs).

For those who would like to relive the details: Box score.

My wife reminded me of that today. It was one week before our wedding and I drove her and her friends to a preliminary hair and makeup session.

I didn't recall any of that, but I remembered listening to the game in the radio and all the details about it :)

I remember that very well. I was in town, my wife (then girlfriend) went shopping and I went to the game. Bought a single ticket, it was one of those in the first row the 200 level by the concourse ramp where there was only one seat. I had a great time.

I have been to two games by myself. Last year was game 3 of the NLDS. Didn't have as much fun that night.

Ah, good times. Wood, Prior, Zambrano in the rotation. Corey Patterson was hitting .319 at the point and was hitting 3rd and on his way to a possible All-Star game, before getting hurt. Hee Seop Choi had shown flashes of greatness. Aramis was soon to be acquired.

I remember this game so well, watching at a freaking Bar Mitzvah. I was 13, yes. I could never forget Acevedo after that day.

5 years ago yesterday we almost blew a big lead on ESPN only to end it on a pickoff
I remember that game too. I was listening to the Karros game on WGN radio on my way up to visit my father in Waukegan, and I watched the ESPN game on TV. I remember thinking they were going to blow it.

Thanks for those who remember the difficult name Hee Seop Choi now still in DL(Dizziness&back problems) list on Korean team(Kia Motors Co.). I'm really happy to see the Wood's 18th S today.

I was there with my Yankee fan roommate, several rows up behind homeplate. One of the greatest days in the history of the universe, except for Hee Soip being carted off. Never thought I would see an ambulance on Wrigley Field, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

I was in the RF bleachers for that game surrounded by Yankees fans, who were actually really cool. It was their first visit to Wrigley, and they were pretty much in awe & talked to us about Wrigley as a baseball shrine.

I'm sure everyone here remembers the hype building up to that game. Cubs/Yankees on the marquee would have been enough by itself, but the sidebars: Clemens #300, Clemens vs. Wood, the Cubs being in 2nd 1 game back ... plus on top of everything it was an absolutely perfect day weather-wise.

When Wood and Choi collided, from our vantage point it was impossible to see who was on the ground -- a few minutes later someone with binoculars finally said Choi was hurt, but Wood was kneeling right there next to him. There were a few women nearby sobbing a little bit when the ambulance came out. Never saw that happen before at Wrigley, haven't seen it since. But when Karros went yard, I've never heard it that loud in the bleachers.

That game was ridiculously nuts, definitely one of the most unforgettable I've ever seen.
