How does Marquis manage to not have a ridiculously awful ERA, he must be the luckiest pitcher in baseball.

His ERA is over 5. That's ridiculously awful.

I've seen worse

Yeah seriously, I think he's been spoiled by Cubs pitching in the last few years, its been well above average.

Why the hell was Johnson running there? I know it worked, but that was STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID

Ledezma is SLLOOOOOWWW to the plate. It's not a bad scouting report strategy.

It certainly doesn't matter at all. But when you're not looking for those type of things, or picking up on small details, to me at least, it is like a 5 year old who watches but has no idea why or how.

but who knows more more? the child, empty of impressions, or the 50 year old, full of the wrong ones?

I am not stating there are trends I see that are untrue (like a players ability with RISP) nor saying something like Lee always tends to strike out with the runners in motion. I am not drawing on these observances here. I am simply stating there are multiple ways major leaguers approach a given at bat.

i think that hitters have multiple approaches within a plate appearance depending upon what they're guessing is coming. if they think a fastball is headed their way, they're going to try to hit it out of the park. it's no different with ramirez. his approach is consistent with what he thinks is coming.

Marquis is batting?

LOU IS A [expletive] MORON!!!!!

That's it. I concede. Enjoy tomorrow's game thread by A New Era.

How in the world can we let Marquis hit here?

Maybe Lou's hoping he gets hit in the arm or something and can't pitch the next inning?

Yeah, I don't know either.

We agree then, awesome. I was simply contesting the presence of multiple approaches.
