Hell of a game last night, from what I hear. Too bad I missed all of it. Stupid west coast and stupid job making me get up at stupid 5 am to go in early.

Ahem...

Anyway, tonight the Cubs throw Jason Marquis

http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6493.jpg

2-3, 4.98 ERA, 1.64 WHIP

He's gonna shank you, man.

The Padres throw some schmuck by the name of Wilfredo Ledezma

http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7086.jpg

0-2, 4.25 ERA, 1.53 WHIP

Yet another pitcher the Cubs should have no problems knocking around. I'm confident the Mega Cubs will win despite Marquis's best efforts.

This is the mark of a winner.... They're beating up on the teams they should beat, and they're winning 1-run ballgames. The inability to do either has hurt us in previous years. Let's just hope they're not peaking too early.

Go Cubs!

oh the sweet irony ... we are called the mega Cubs the same day Marquis takes the mound. If we somehow win this game I vote for the supernova Cubs or maybe nova then if we win super nova.

As a precaution, Marquis should be pulled before the 4th, just so, you know.

Not with back-to-back 5 inning SP performances. Like some said in another thread as long as he isn't awful he should stay in for 6 to rest the bullpen.

And to the guy who said SOTOWNED ... to steal a line from a commercial BRILLiant!

I'm not sure I like our chances today. Marmol should be unavailable and I'm not sure that won't be the case for Woody as well. Considering that Marquis is not even close to a lock for six innings, I think the bullpen might have some serious problems today.

Well, then the bats are going to have to get back whatever Marquis gives up.

Remember who were talking about here. Plus the fact that this lifeless Padres lineup seems to have some pretty good stats agaist him.

I'd imagine Wood is probably a little closer to unavailable than Marmol is because Wood would be going 3 days in a row, which the organization doesn't want to do very often, and Marmol had the off day on Sunday. Both have pitched 4 out of 5 games though, so while I'd pitch Marmol before Wood, I don't really want to pitch either of them.

The Cubs need to be patient against Ledezma tonight. He's extremely shaky with his control and tends to throw a lot of pitches. He does strike out a decent number, so he may be able to get out of a few jams, but if they remain patient he'll be out by the end of the 5th tonight, and if they can get the big hit he could very well be out quicker than that.

The Trib reports Fuku will not play today, as Lou has given him the day off to be with his wife and child, who just arrived in the US.

Predictions?

-DeRosa in right, Cedeno at 2B?

-Hoffpaiur in right?

Its gotta be Hoff. Lous been trying to find ways to get him playing time, well, the chance just fell in his lap.

i'll say Derosa in RF with Cedeno at 2B, since Ledezma is a lefty.

I'll second that. My guess at the lineup:

Soriano

Theriot

Lee

Ramirez

Soto

Cedeno

DeRosa

Johnson

Marquis

Why? Ledezma is a lefty.

I feel good about Marquis tonight for some odd reason. I'm gonna say he pitches into the 7th.

Cubs win this 6-3

Ball is not gonna fly out tonight at Petco, the marine layer seems pretty strong.

1090 AM in Southern California. The San Diego radio PBP guy sounds like Lou Piniella.

Ted Leitner or Jerry Coleman? I don't think either sounds like Lou.

Yeah, those are the two. I will listen in today and tell you which one I think sounds like Lou.

Lou occasionally does PBP on Raisin's radio

The one built into his teeth?
