GO ED--

No, still can't manage it. I'll hope for him to homer tonight just the same. GO CUBS!

If it makes it easier, you could treat Edmonds like all the MLB video games treat Bonds. Make up a hilarious fake name with the same number (I believe MLB games referred to Bonds as Reggie Stocker).

MVP Baseball called him Jon Dowd.

LOL. I always liked PLAYER and then the number. I remember Jordan was PLAYER-23 on NBA games after he got his own. Edmonds could be PLAYER-15.

The Bill Parcells treatment.

We get to see the Astros versions of Corey Patterson (Michael Borne) and Nefti Perez (Kaz Matsui) at the top of the Stros's order. So, Berkman/Lee/Tejada/Pence should not have too many RBI opportunities.

Unfortunately they've been winning with this.

Hasn't Michael Borne had an unusually high percentage of big games against the Cubs? I don't like the term Cub killer, but the way I am remembering things, he seems to be on his way to being one.

He's had 15 career plate appearances against the Cubs with a .214/.267/.357 line. He has 2 stolen bases.

And a broken leg.

The other teams in our division need to stop winning.

At least the Brewers are losing.

Ned Yost can't possibly have a job for much longer.

Therein lies the downside.

I'm hoping the Brewers can win a couple series in a row to prolong the Yost regime... Him being there for the remainder of the season (in conjunction w/ the loss of Gallardo & the inevitable Sheets injury) would pretty much guarantee that the Brewers won't be in the hunt come September.

Not me. I want the Brewers to lose every game not played against the Cardinals or Astros. The sooner they bury the season, the better.

Everytime I think about how the Brewers might be out of it already, I remember that we were an impressive 9 games below .500 a little further in the season than now, and we won the division last year.

And their team is probably more talented than our team from last year. (Still no Gallardo is a problem for them)

Is there any chance Lee gets a day off soon?

According to Len during today's broadcast, Lou was toying with the idea of sitting Lee on Wednesday to give him an extra day off, especially now that Hoffpauir is up and can fill in fine at 1B defensively.

How do you pronounce Hoffpauir?

Hoff-power

Honest? What a great name for a baseball player.

I refer to him as "The Hoff" in hopes that some of the extraordinary talent of the real "The Hoff" transfers onto Hoffpauir.

Parcells did refer to Terry Glenn as "she"......Do I really need to finish this thought considering we are talking about Edmonds?

As a Cub fan stuck in Texas, I want to beat the Astros almost as much as I do the Cards or White Sox. A sweep would be wonderful, but 2 out of 3 is required. Especially since we miss Oswalt.

Are you making it down for any of these games? And Bedford? My sister-in-law lives in NRH.

The difference is our team last year was chasing a .500 ball club. This Cubs team blows the 2007 Brewers out of the water, it's not the same thing. I am confident that this team will be well ahead of the pack at the end of 162. Winning the division by 10 games isn't an unrealistic prediction.

Not to mention Pythagorean Wins consistently stated the Cubs were underachieving and would likely play better than their record for the remaining season.

It don't matter, CT, 'cause we can win more.

Still, it's more comfortable if the other teams lose.

I like it when the division is good.

It erases that stigma of, "yeah the Cubs are in first, but its in the lowly NL Central".

Shows that the Cubs are the class act in a classy division.

Lets also keep in mind that the Cubs are shooting for .500 on the road tonight.

they can't be sub500 on the road at the end of the year.

Unfortunately not. It always seems that we play in Houston during the middle of the week, which makes it tough to break away from work. A weekend series would be nice.

NRH is right around the corner from me. I go to the dog park there every week.

I would prefer the Cubs beat up on a crappy divison and win it easily.

Anybody know if people in Chicago will be able to see the ESPN feed or will it be blacked out?

Hopefully we get it, cause I want my daily dosage of Joe Morgan.
