Don't have the link, but I read in a hard copy of today's Sun-Times a suggestion that Marquis should be dropped and Maddux re-re-acquired. Thoughts?

Here's the link.

I'm a Maddux fan, but I don't think he's the best fit for the Cubs. I do think they could use a starting pitcher (and Rich Hill back in the rotation soon). I'd like to see them pick up someone who can still shut down opposing lineups in a playoff situation. I don't think Maddux is that guy any more.

Maddux has been pretty bad this year hasn't he?

Sub 2 ERA at home, nearly a 5 ERA on the road.

Been saying this for years. Petco is an ideal situation for Maddux. His fly ball tendencies killed him while he was pitching for the Cubs. Moving to a pitcher friendly park has rejuvenated his career.

Here are his ERA splits by ballpark this year:

Dodger Stadium: 0.00

Dolphin Stadium: 6.35

Citizen's Bank: 4.26

Chase Field: 11.57

Petco: 1.42

ATT Park: 1.29

How many times would Maddux pitch on the West Coast while wearing a Cub uniform? Take Maddux out of the West, and you have another Jason Marquis on your hands.

The man should retire as a Padre.

How about a deal with Marquis to the Pads, Maddux to the Giants and a hearty thank you to the Cubs.

And for our troubles we get Lincecum. :D

I'd settle for an autographed picture of Lincecum but the actual guy would be better.

There's also rumors of the Braves interested in reuinited the "Big Three" for a kind of farewell tour. So if Maddux gets dealt, I see him going to the Braves.

Boy, would the Braves' Marketing guys love that move.

I believe Kent Mercker and Denny Neagle were part of that rotation at one time, as well.

Don 't forget about Jason Schmidt, David Nied, Bruce Chen, Horacio Ramirez, etc, etc, etc...

Avery still have an arm? Lets expand this reunion tour.

What ever happened to him anyway? He fizzled out pretty quickly.

I believe he came up with arm problems.

Didn't Avery throw a no no?

No thanks to Maddux. He was pretty bad for us before he was traded to LA. Let him enjoy the rest of his career in the NL West ballparks where his numbers can stay good.

Maddux was an above average starter all 3 years(His 2nd go-around) with the Cubs.
