The very quick use of Lieber, Marshall and then Ward is why I probably would have left Rich in the game. That way, assuming Rich gets through the 6th with no damage, you use just Ward and have two more pitchers in the bullpen.

It's possible they wanted to pull Hill then so he could leave the game on a positive note. He wasn't great today, but the results up until that point were. Had he gone back out and struggled, it might have carried over into his next start.

Talking about the heart of their order not being very good.

Taunting them about us winning a lot of games this year.

It's like you people haven't been paying attention the last 100 years.

I am just messing with him, I would say most on this board are pretty good about seeing the huge flaws on our own team.

It ain't about seeing the flaws.

It's about temping the fates!!! Those terrible little harpies lurking around in the shadows that come to life at the first sound of Cubs fans taunting any other team.

I don't believe in that crap. I had a whole freaking year of Kansas fans teasing and prodding at me about how bad my team is and how great they are and they win a national title. I don't buy into that crap at all anymore.

I agree. I don't like how not only were they used quickly but you used two of them. I can see using Marshall (He is the only lefty in the pen right), but I don't like using Lieber. I would have at least preferred a different right hander. Although now that I think about it our right handed middle relief pitchers out side of Lieber have been pretty inconsistent. Ahh, forget it I'll stop over thinking it and enjoy the game.

Based on my memory of only Theriot, Soriano, Fontenot and Patterson hitting leadoff, the Cubs are 13-71(.183) from the leadoff spot this year.

Don't listen to him! He knows not what he says!

Away with you, Harpies! Go pick on Paulie Shore.

You know, Cubs fans have tried not to tempt fate for years and look how that turned out. Maybe the key is to tempt fate.

Oh, I agree. I posted to that effect, as well. I tend to believe that Hill would have gained even more confidence if he'd gotten through Bay and Nady. But, the bullpen is relatively rested, so I'm not particularly worked up about it.

I've fairly certain that was exactly the point.

I was going to post that, but I wasn't sure about it. Might just have been a similar looking guy... he's been at Cubs games before though.

Was the guy double fisting a beer w/ a mai tai? If so it was probably Duhon.

No wonder he sucks.

I'm not watching the game since I'm at work (heh heh), but I get the sense from the gameday switches, etc., that Lou really, really, really wants to win this game.

Does Marmol go more than one inning?

I'm guessing so, Lou doesn't trust anyone else for the 8th, and he was double switched to the last out of last inning.
