I've believed that Self was gone ever since Sutton quit. It's pretty clear that Self is the guy that everyone at OSU wants and they're going to do everything they can to get him.

If Self turns down that OSU offer, I'll have a newfound respect for him.

Respect isn't the word I would use.

Why won't anybody take Mark Gottfried from Alabama? If he runs off any more players from the BB team, people will think he has a deal with the Triple K's.

Why won't Mal Moore FIRED Mark Gottfried.....

i don't hate ku football so much as i hate ku basketball. i was happy ku was playing in a bcs game, so long as mizzou was in the cotton bowl. but i'm sure my illini will be back, outlasting self's jayhawks in the tourney in the next few years to come.

Basketball-wise, the future looks good for both programs. But if we pick up X Henry and Daniel Orton, we might just win it again in 2009.

I wonder if you have that good a football year again now that you have to play OU and Texa$?

At least you don't live here in it. One of my friends from work likes to remind me how elite they are every chance he gets. Now I bring up how elite I am based on our work reviews. He doesn't think that is as neat.

We'll still be good. I expect 8-4, maybe better.

What you didn't schedule anyone in the preconference schedule again? I also thought that you lost your best player to the draft.

I gotta admit, I'm taking a liking to Kansas. That's probably because of the fact that I don't hate Bill Self as many Illini fans do and because Mark Mangino is awesome.

One of my good friends played running back at KState when Mangino was the backs coach. He says he is the biggest piece of trash you will ever meet.

We play at South Florida in the non-con and then 3 gimmes.

The vast majority of our two-deep returns. Sure, we lost Talib and Collins, but we have experience and talent ready to step in. People underrate our team from last year. We lost one game at a neutral site to a top five team by 8 points. We'll lose a few more this year--OU & Mizzou, maybe Texas and T-Tech--but our toughest games are at home.

I wouldn't expect a terrible season, You'll be disappointed.

I don't think you will be terrible at all, but I bet you lose about 4 games.

Former Ball State head coach and IU assistant Ray McCallum has been hired as head coach of University of Detroit.

It's all good though because Tim Buckley is replacing him as the resident former BSU coach that is now an assistant at IU.

Now they just need one in football since Lynch is no longer an assistant.

I wonder what Paul Schudel is up to these days.

Keno Davis is leaving Drake after one year to take over at Providence. Reportedly for 7 years at $1M per year which I find amazing.

That is one hell of a money grab for Keno. He's only 36 so even if it doesn't work out(I would guess that it won't) he'll still be young enough to have a shot at working back up to a high-major.

I can't believe Providence would take that kind of chance. He's had one year of head coaching experience. Granted he did dominate the MVC but it was a down year for the conference and he was bounced in the first round of the NCAA's. Based on that you give him 7 years at $1M annually at Providence. How will he be able to recruit in the Northeast?

Great idea by Davis, Drake is gonna be bad next year.

I'm not a big Drake fan but I don't agree with that.

They won't win the MVC but they could finish near the top. They basically have a 9-10 man rotation and they lose 3 seniors. Obviously Houston and Emenecker really hurt, but Korver had a terrible year and was a liability at times because he was a chucker who just didn't hit shots this year.

They return their most talented player and leading scorer in Young and the only big man they had in Cox who was very efficient and underrated. I believe they also have a 6 man recruiting class coming in.

Keno lands in a pretty nice situation with the contract at Providence and they return most everyone from a decent Big East team. Drake probably won't shell out much money (I've read $300K) but with the roster they have they'll be able to do better than Drake traditionally would. Steve Forbes, assistant at Tennessee has been mentioned.

ESPN reports that Keno was the 4th choice for Providence, behind Jim Larranaga, Travis Ford, and Bob McKillop. That's kinda insulting to the coach of the year. However, money talks and $1M is quite loquacious.

Now who does Drake go after?
