I believe the Big Dance warrants its own thread rather than relegating it to the already lengthy general college basketball thread.

I'm going to the Friday/Sunday games in Raleigh. I already had my ticket for quite some time, and it turned out to be a stroke of luck that my favorite team, Indiana, got sent to Raleigh. Unfortunately I don't think they're stay is going to be very long. The way they've been playing lately I'm not sure they'll even beat Arkansas, and if somehow they do they'll get destroyed by UNC in the second round.

Have fun, NCAA tournament's are great to attend. The opening rounds are especially fun as you get to see an eclectic mix of teams and generally some upsets/crazy stuff.

Arkansas is big and athletic and a pretty tough match-up for IU. I'll probably pick Arkansas; regardless, UNC is far better than either team.

i'm just glad that UK is finally out of the 8-9 game. i wish UK would have went in the opposite direction in terms of seeding, but hey, i'm just glad that UK is in. i was starting to get nervous.

Go Drake.

Gotta go with an Iowa team. Since my Hawkeyes were pretty much guaranteed not to make it from day 1 of the season.

UK matches up ok with Marquette, it's going to be a battle of backcourts, which helps out UK. UM will still be favored, but given how UK played early on and how they finished, it's still a disappointing season and how well Patterson played before he got hurt as well as a strong class, I'm optimistic another year under Gillespie that they are on the right track.

drake should have been a four, but i guess it doesn't matter that much. can't believe butler is a seven.

When I saw Butler as a 7 I thought for sure Drake would get a 6. It seems many times the Mid-majors get seeded 2 spots lower then they should. Getting a 5 IMO is pretty much the same as getting a 4.

I don't know much about Arkansas. They beat Vandy and Tennessee, but lost to a Georgia team playing it's 3rd game in 30 hours. They went into the SEC tourney having lost 5 of 8 games, and lost now 4 games to the bottom 4 in the SEC. They also lost at Providence and home vs. App. St. Admittedly, though, I have not seen them play all year. And clearly, you don't know what IU team you are gonna get, but I do think they played OK vs. Minnesota.

Butler got screwed more than IU. Heck, I think Purdue may have been screwed too, being lower than Michigan St. Only ND was seeded properly in the state of Indiana.

In College Bball I rarely cheer for the Big Ten team in the tournament just because it's a Big Ten team. During Bowl season I'm all about the Big Ten teams. I know I'm strange.

That's not really strange. If a college BBall team wins a tournament game, they get closer to the championship and you ultimately have to root for a rival to be champion if it gets to that point. If a rival team wins a bowl game, 9 of 10 times, that's all they win is a bowl game. They don't get to claim a national championship unless they win the BCS championship game. I'd venture to guess that you weren't rooting for Ohio St. the last 2 years to win their bowl game?

Actually I was rooting for OSU to win those games. Figured it would be good for the Big Ten.

i can't seem to fill out a bracket i like....i've never had this much trouble, maybe it's because no team stands out as the best.

I remember twice in recent memory that UK played Marquette in the tournament (once in the second round, once in the regional final). Both times Marquette won despite Kentucky being seeded higher. Maybe this is UK's year for payback.

Yeah Purdue and Indiana finished higher than MSU in the B10 by 2 and three games. MSU did have a better RPI, but its like when do they use the RPI and when dont they. Purdue also started the year slow because of the youth on their team and came on strong as the season wore on, the slow start probably hurt their RPI.

Seconded. I have KU winning it all, but that could change. I was real reluctant to pick them over Clemson in the 2nd round.

It took "Tubby's guys" a while to get Gillespie's system, but you can see they started to

play better and continued even when Patterson went down. I think that next year UK will be much more highly rated.
