Brett Favre is DONE!!! WOOOO CHris Mortenson just confirmed with Bretts agent.

I bet you're happy. The Bears can't be his personal bitch anymore.

except the part where he went 0-2 against them last year.

How did the Bears do last season? You hang your hat on that 2-0 record in a "rivalry game" that none of the players really care about.

Considering the goal of every team should be to make it to the superbowl, the Packers 2007 season is as insignficant as the Bears.

i don't care at all about it, just pointing out a fact to the person who is trying to bash the Bears

The Bears 2006 season is as insignificant as the Packers 2007 season. Happy?

Replace 2006 with 2005 and you'd be right. The 2006 Bears played in the Super Bowl; I don't recall the 2007 Packers doing that. The 2005 Bears and 2007 Packers both lost before the Super Bowl, so they might be comparable.

The Bears did not win the Superbowl. Really that's all I care about. Just my personal opinion.
They didn't WIN it, but they did MAKE it. Better to play in the Super Bowl and lose than not play in it at all. By your criteria there would be 31 failures out of 32 teams every year.

That's pretty much what he's saying.

Didn't you JUST say in the above quotes that every team's goal should be to make the Super Bowl?

And even if you meant to win it, while that may be true, you're wrong about the 2006 season being as insignificant as the Packers 2007.

The 2006 Bears were NFC Champions and played in the big game. That's not insignificant. And it's more significant than losing in the conference championship game.

I meant to say win. Does making it mean something? Possibly. It was fun to experience the SB as a fan yeah, but really it is nothing to me anymore

I have the opposite viewpoint. To me, the 2006 Colts was only marginally better than the 03, 04, 05, or 07 seasons. Winning the big prize was nice, but I'm more interested in seeing a good team that has a legitimate shot to win the title every year. The journey is a lot more important than the destination to me.

Then again, it could be perspective. You came from a title one of your first years you can remember. I grew up with terrible team after terrible team. To me, just being able to go into each week and knowing that my team has a good chance to win that day is a lot more important than just enjoying 1 year out of 10. Some of the endings have been disappointing, but I haven't experienced a disappointing season for the team in 5 years, and I'm very thankful for that.

Maybe my expectations are too high. But it isn't my fault, my first memories as a Bears fan are

http://mybearsandblackhawksblog.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/85-bears.jpg

My first memories were the 1-13 team in 1969 (when they couldn't even win a coin flip for Terry Bradshaw); it was nearly a decade before they even had a winning season and made the playoffs. It was 15 years after I started following the Bears before they won a division championship (exactly the same as with the Cubs). So we definitely have different perspectives. If I was spoiled by a championship right off the bat I'd probably have higher expectations about what can be considered successful too.

Spoken like a Packer fan. The Packers fans that I know, hunged on their victory over the Bears on New Yr's Eve, like it was a million dollar's. With the hope of finishing up 2006 with 4 game winning streak, and a defeat of their rivals to finish the season. To which lead to their very good season this yr.

To downplay, the Bears whooping of the Packers this yr is a disservice to the rivarly.

I guess. Last year, we won those 3 games before the Bears game, but none of them were extremely impressive wins. Then we come out and we outplay the Bears extremely well in a game that Lovie said that he wasn't going to rest the starters and that they were going to do everything they could do to win. With a young and improving defense, it did give Packers fans some optimism for 2007. Now do I believe that was the reason why we played so well last year? No. The defense did its job, but the offense more than surpassed preseason expectations.

I didn't care so much that the game was against the Bears, but more so it was a good opponent to gauge just how well we've improved over the course of the season.

And professional rivalries are a joke. Do I hate the Bears? Sure I do. But am I going to make it a point to single those two games out of the year from the other 14? Hell no. They're just as important as the other 14 and nothing more.

Who cares that Favre went 0-2 last year against the Bears? He also went to the NFC Championship game. If you wouldn't trade those two wins for a shot at a Super Bowl then you are on drugs.

The whole 0-2 thing was brought up because of Eric saying Bears fans are probably happy because now the Bears can stop being Favres personal bitch. Well the Bears quit being Favres bitch when Lovie came to Chicago, not right now since Favre retired.

yes, this. anyone who says "I don't care if the Bears go 2-14 as long as they beat the Packers" is mental.

it's a tongue-in-cheek saying among bear/pack fans.

Titans get a little bit Freaky.

Jevon Kearse

I like this move. So long as he's not counted on to be a full-time starter and we draft an end to play alongside him, I think this is a very good move.

EDIT: Just read that the deal is for two years and worth $6 mil total. Plus a $1.3 mil signing bonus. Not bad - I was hoping for two or less years and got it. Now, we just need a young end to combine with him (and then one or two more cheap/young DTs) and the D-Line will be set.

A little more Titans news since I'm sure everyone is sitting on the edge's of their seats waiting.

Tennessee is apparently trying for a reunion year as the Titans have invited Justin McCareins in for a visit. They've also gotten visits from Drew Carter, Eugene Wilson, Terry Cousin (ugh), Ellis Wyms, Marques Douglas and Julius Jones (please, for the love of all that's holy, no).

Out of that group, I wouldn't mind seeing McCareins and Wilson - not sure about the rest, though.

Oh yea, tight end Ben Troupe has also headed to Tampa Bay. Have fun with that blown first rounder Buc fans. Shoulda taken Ben Watson with the same pick...
