The Bears drafting running back scares me. A lot. I have zero confidence that whatever decision that make with that position will be the correct one. Rashan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Cedric Benson...stop the madness!

LaDanian Tomlinson could be available and the Bears still shouldn't make that pick. With the passing game eroding and the offensive line coming off a relatively weak 2007 performance, defenses will be keying in on the Bears running game. The team should focus on solidifying the offensive line before any other offensive moves.

I wouldn't go that far. You have to look at the value of the pick. I'm not convinced that with this OL fixed that Benson is the answer at RB. He has flashes where he looks, but the majority of the time he doesn't look good.

There seems to be more depth in this draft at OL then play maker positions. If you have the opportunity to add a play maker to the offense and still add depth in later rounds I think you have to think about it.

People were figuring Atlanta to take McFadden, but with Turner now on board it might bump the RBs down even further....

If McFadden's still sitting there at the Bears' pick, the best option for them might be to trade it. There are going to be teams lower down wanting McFadden and the Bears could fill a couple holes with that one pick.

Jerry Jones might even hand over both firsts for McFadden. Those could turn into a solid O-lineman and a WR/RB/another OL.

Raiders have already said if the Falcons don't take McFadden, they will. Even still, I think Atlanta trades out of the 3 spots to whoever wants DMC. I look for the Jets to make a strong push. The Falcons would only move down to 6, and could still take Matt Ryan. It's nearly impossible for a team outside of the top 10 to trade up that high. And ATL doesn't want to trade that far down. Either way, McFadden will be gone long before the Bears pick, and most likely be in the top 5 picks.

Its being reported the Bills have reached a tentative agreement with Bryant Johnson. Jesus Christ, who is left for the Bears to sign, Tim Dwight? Drew Carter and DJ Hackett seem like the best available i guess.

I'd prefer Hackett to Johnson anyways.

The way this FA period is going, I'm wondering if Angleo intends to sign *anyone* outside of Briggs.

BTW, on Mike & Mike this morning they called Briggs the "biggest loser" in FA.

I hear that the Bears are setting them selves up to draft the greatest QB in history, Mr. Clouson (sp) from the University of Notre Dame.

Why isn't anyone talking Javon Walker. This guy is a legit number 1 receiver when healthy. I realize the knee issues, and the amount of guaranteed money it would take to get him on board here, but the upside is definitely worth the risk IMO given our current WR situation.

Hey, thanks for giving Hart the ball 50 times a game and killing any chance he had of being a pro!

ECK that guy (and Hackett) are too injury prone

Well we needed him to be ready so we could beat Ohio State!

Oh...umm...well at least he finally won a bowl game!

I would have loved to have Javon Walker 1 or 2 years ago but there was talk he needed microfracture surgery to fix his latest issue. That's never a good sign. I don't think he even got the surgery which means he might not be 100%. He's just too risky to give anything of value for him right now.

Trib"]Bears quarterback Brian Griese will be traded to Tampa Bay, agent Ralph Cindrich said Monday. The move will save the Bears a $300,000 bonus due to Griese on Tuesday.

Details of the deal are unknown but the Bears could receive a sixth- or seventh-round draft choice in return.

The Bucs will assume Griese's contract. Tampa Bay has been trying to broker this deal for at least two years, Cindrich said. Griese also drew interest from Houston and Texans coach Gary Kubiak, who was Griese's offensive coordinator in Denver.

Trib"]The chances the Bears land free-agent receiver Bryant Johnson are becoming slimmer by the moment.

According to Buffalobills.com, Johnson arrived in Buffalo this morning and is touring the team's facility. The site reported that he underwent a physical, as well.

A Bears team source said Johnson would visit Halas Hall provided he didn't sign with another team. But expect the Bills to put the squeeze on Johnson, with Bills head coach Dick Jauron citing the need for a big receiver.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Griese on Tampa Bay prior to the Bears?

Yup..and the Bears picked him up approximately 2 years ago. So apparently TB never wanted to give him up, and are now willing to pay what I believe to be a crazy price to get him back.

Who is left at WR? Moss (not a chance), Walker (probably not a chance) and Hackett (will have to overpay for him)

Absolutly nothing left at WR. Horrible planning by Angelo. Make no mistake, 2008 is a rebulding year.

I'm glad Griese is gone. He was worse than I thought he would be for the Bears.

He was fairly similar to what I thought he would be for the Bears. Not bad, but not good. If this was a very good team that just needed hand holding at QB, he could have done the job. Unfortunately, the Bears needed more than hand holding at QB.

oh, come on, you were drinking the griese kool-aid along with everyone else after the win over philly. you even disagreed with my statement depicting him as an ordinary journeyman qb. haha.
