The Padres are looking at having Mark Prior begin a rehab assignment in April and return to the majors in early May.

Prior's agent thinks they should wait a bit longer. "To do it before that starts to cross boundaries of being prudent," John Boggs said. "I'd like to see him by the end of May, June 1. I don't want to see it before then. Then I think you're trying to hurry something that shouldn't be hurried." This will surely work itself out. The Padres don't want Prior to rush anything, either.

Although I'd have loved to see him resign, I'm going to laugh when he debuts as basically a Sept. call-up.

I miss him, but it's kind of cool to have somebody else have to deal with this "When's he coming back??? OMGZ" crap for once.

it's too early to excited about rumblings of a later than expected return. A healthy Prior andPeavy at the top of the Padres rotation scares me more than Santanta and what ever Pedro has left in the tank.

What exactly do you mean when you refer to "a healthy Prior" though?

That's like an oxymoron.

Can we just rename this the Mark Prior bashing thread so that way all the lame ass towel jokes and calling him a vagina can all be in one thread?

Who has bashed him?

Pointing out that his return date is a question mark qualifies now?

Has anyone ever combined a towel/vagina joke for Mark Prior? I have a few, but I might get banned.

Its where the thread will go. Anytime his name is brought up its not long after that the bashing begins.

A healthy Prior is the one we saw in 2003, it's really too bad are Crack job of a med staff couldn't figure out there was something wrong with him till it was too late. I used to call his toughness in to question only to eat crow after they found all that damage.

Get over it. The vitriol for Prior from Cubs fans is embarrassing.

I too fail to see how any of the previous posts in this thread qualified as vitrol directed at prior, IMO. I was sure sad to see the mark prior era end but after suffering so many seasons of hearing a possible return date that just keeps on getting pushed back, it was really heartbreaking for a lot of us here. What's coming out now sounds like some of the same stuff we heard before, and I'm just glad to have made a clean break, though I may very well eat those words if Mark is effective again. He wanted out of Chicago, so what can you do? I wish him the best except when he plays us.

"are" Crack job of a med staff... Did you mean to type our instead of are? In that case you're wrong and Prior's wrong to blame the "Cub doctors", because Prior didn't just get the medical opinion of the Cubs medical staff but Prior was referred to some of the top specialists in the nation. What was the name of that top surgeon out of California? He performed surgery on a lot of pitchers in MLB. If Prior wants to blame someone, he can blame himself.
