Cuddyer does not have the best arm in RF, not even close.

This article also does not seem to make any mention of the factors played by cutoff men.

I have no idea how he got there, either. Where's Vlad, or his is accuracy hurting him too much?

Soriano has the best LF arm because the Cubs assbackwardsly put their most athletic corner outfielder in LF instead of RF. What other team would play Cliff Floyd and Daryle Ward in RF and Alfonso Soriano in LF?

Despite the subjectiveness of "best outfield arm", the article is about 2007 performance. He had the same number of baserunner kills as Francoeur, in less opportunities, but if you say so.

Soriano only trails himself (last year) in assists for a LF since 1970. Bobby Higginson also had 19 in 2000.

I always thought Alou had a decently strong and accurate arm in LF. I'm not surprised to see him listed in the bottom of that top 5. Besides, it's not like there's much competition left at that point for that position.

Someone already pointed this out, but it bears repeating: put the article in context. It's about best OF arms of 2007 based on results. It's not about best arms in the OF amongst all active players based on scouting evaluations, historical numbers, or famous highlight reels prior to 2007.

Alou has an okay arm for LF. Unfortunately he also has very poor range and agility, doesn't play fly balls well, and is not very surehanded. His arm is the only part of his defense that doesn't suck.

Are you actually saying you agree that Cuddyer had the best RF arm in baseball last year?

Sounds to me more like they are evaluating the value of the outfielder based on assists. I haven't seen Cuddyer play, but he is a converted 3b, and to be a 3b in the major leagues requires a pretty strong arm.

Please, elucidate for me what you believe I misunderstood. I was trying to clarify that he really agreed with this nonsense.

Did you read the article? It's not about who has the biggest "gun" or whatever. It would be like if some random scrub hit .380 last year over 700 at bats, then showed up at the top of a "Best Hitters 2007" list. Sure, he's probably not the best hitter, but in the past year, he produced the most (or whatever).
