At what point does Rivers get the Rex Grossman treatment? He's having a horrid season.

If SD was having a better season, my guess is that Rivers would be getting the Grossman treatment. The only thing Rivers has done better than Grossman did last year was a better completion percentage, and that doesn't mean much without the other stats to accompany it.

This is just wrong. Rivers is leaps and bounds better than Grossman is.

Last year:

Rivers - 61.7 comp %, 3388 yards, 7.4 ypa, 22 TD, 9 INT, 92.0 QB rating

Grossman - 54.6 comp %, 3193 yards, 6.7 ypa, 23 TD, 20 INT, 73.9 QB rating

Even this year when Rivers is having 'a bad year'

Rivers: 60.4 comp %, 7.0 ypa, 15 TD, 13 INT, 80.4 QB rating in 12 games

Grossman - 54.2 comp %, 6.3 ypa, 4 TD, 7 INT, 66.4 QB rating in 8 games

Rivers' stats are easily superior to Grossman across the board.

There are a lot of Patriots fans speculating as well that the Patriots will trade down with the pick that they get from San Fran and the most likely suitors for that pick would be the Cowboys trading their 2 first rounders for it.

they may trade down for salary reasons. however, if that SF picks ends up being #2 or #3 overall, the cowboys will definitely have to give up more than two low first-rounders to move up to grab a franchise-caliber player (probably the most attractive player to the cowboys in that spot would be glenn dorsey).

The #2 pick is "worth" 2,600 points. Depending on where the Cowboys picks are, it will be hard to reach that with just two first round picks. However, they would be close enough for it not to be a terrible deal, especially if a mid-round pick some year is thrown in.

I might be crazy, and I said this after the Colts and Patriots played the first time, but I still think that the Colts will beat the Pats in a playoff game.

It depends on how healthy the Colts are. Freeney is already done of the year and Harrison's barely played this year. If the Colts are as healthy as they can be, they definitely can win. But if they aren't healthy, just like the first meeting, the Pats will win.

Like that draft pick will help when Kolb becomes your starting QB next season.

didn't know you were such an expert talent evaluator when it comes to Conference USA quarterbacks. vance nicholson, jack of all trades.

Well, I just think it's quite pathetic that you'd rather your team lose than have a chance to win it all. Of course, I guess that happens when your team has never won anything.

If your team was eliminated, wouldn't you want your team to suck more to get a better draft pick?

That's not what he said. He said he'd rather his team get a good draft pick than lose in the Super Bowl. Even if my team lost, I'd rather see my team in the Super Bowl each and every year.

there was no way the eagles had a talented enough team to make the super bowl ahead of the cowboys or packers this year. that's why i started rooting for the eagles to tank about 6 weeks ago.

I can understand wanting them to lose when they're officially eliminated from the playoffs, but I'll never understand why a "fan" would root against his team before that point. Unlike baseball, all it takes is one win to advance to the next round. Anything can happen.

The Cowboys would love to trade up if the Pats pick high enough for McFadden. On the other hand, that isn't likely.

The Cowboys will likely look to draft an o-lineman and WR with their picks. So barring a chance for McFadden, I really don't see them trading up that high.

That depends if the best player in the NFL is a guy that will average probably like 12 games a year (that's a completely random number, obviously). Peterson is a stud, no doubt, but he's extremely injury prone (upright style doesn't help). We'll see; I hope so, because I have him in a keeper league.

The injury prone stuff is overhyped. He had two injuries in college, neither to the same body part. He had a high ankle sprain and a broken collarbone on a freak fall. Nothing chronic. All RB's are going to get banged up from time to time.

As far as the upright style, if you watch him run, he's rarely upright when he's about to take a hit. He's tall for a RB so he looks upright when he's in the open field but he lowers his pad level when he's near contact.

At any rate, nice to see us put away a bad team early and win big (even against a terrible team) without Adrian having any success or our entire running game for that matter.

Depends on whether the Dolphins want McFadden. If they do, then nobody has a shot at him. If they don't, then McFadden could be available with the Patriots' pick.

Any WR in the top 5 would be a reach. On the other hand, Jake Long would be a legitimate top 5 pick, and the Cowboys could draft him as the heir apparent to Flozell Adams.

I'm really impressed with the Jags. Granted they played a terrible team and I'm biased as they are my second favorite team, but I think they are 3rd best in AFC. We'll know for sure next week.

Was anyone else very surprised by the Bucs? It wasn't major news to most but they are my favorite team so I was bummed about the loss, as now they probably won't get the 3 seed given Seattle's easy schedule.

Watching Jon Kitna whine like a school girl was great.

Almost as great as watching Romo act like a little bitch when things weren't going great.

12-1

congratulations, you're playing for 2nd place just like the rest of the nfc

Nope. We're playing for number six.

Playing for it? Yes. With a solid chance of winning it? Not at all, not when the only way you can beat the Lions is with a lucky bounce. And that's just a fact, mandinga.

Injury prone doesn't really have anything to do with injuring the same body part. He missed significant time the past two years at Oklahoma and missed two games this year while splitting time. I hope he can stay healthy, but I just don't see any indication he will.

I'm honestly wondering what the Browns would be asking for Brady Quinn this offseason. Trying to set aside my obvious bias as much as I can, I still think he's a much better QB option than Andre Woodson or Matt Ryan or Colt Brennan or whoever else in the draft. Not that Carolina would make a deal anyway because they're scared of taking any offensive skill position player high (and the Dwayne Jarrett era won't embolden them any).

I think the Jags are the third best team in the AFC and would have a great chance against either the Patriots or Colts in the playoffs. They seem tailor-made to play New England in the cold.

I don't think I've ever seen a team empty their bench out halfway through the third quarter. The Colts are playing their second stringers on both offense and defense right now.

That's what I thought given their excellent running game and physical play. I haven't been able to watch closely to know whether or not they blitz often or bring enough pressure like the Ravens did with the exception of the game winning drive (vs. Pats).

We have as much chance to win the Super Bowl this year as the Bears did last year. Will we be favored? Hell no. Are the odds against it? Surely. But we'll have a shot.

Agree. The Cowboys most definitely have a shot to win the Super Bowl this year. I don't expect them to, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they did. I would've been shocked if the Bears beat the Colts last year.

I know what you're saying, I guess when I think of injury-prone, I think more of chronic injuries, a series of small injuries, or at least some major things that could linger. A running back having an ankle sprain and a broken bone on a freak landing that didn't involve any ligament damage or long-term risk, I don't see it being as big of an issue as it's been made out to be.

And that's the difference between the Colts and Patriots. Tom Brady would have still been launching it towards the enzone in the 4th quarter of that game. It also irritated me that the announcers kept talking about how bad the Ravens were playing, when if they would have been playing the Patriots, they would have talked about how good the Patriots were playing. I hate the Patriots so much.

Even though the Cowboys aren't likely to be favored, it's still just one game and you never know what's going to happen in one game. What happens if Tom Brady has a game ending injury in the first quarter a la Carson Palmer? Anything can happen in that one game.

In case anyone cares, last years Heisman winner Troy Smith made his NFL debut tonight in the 4th quarter. He played 1 series, completed something like 2 of 3 passes (the incomplete really should have been caught for a TD) and then topped it off by rushing for his first TD.

He looked solid - granted it was against the colts entire 2nd and 3rd string team - but still.

Ugh, that hurts me. This is the first week of my fantasy playoffs and I have Holt.
I have both Holt and Bruce in one of my leagues. I also had Reggie Bush as my primary running back. Needless to say I lost. Fortunately I won in my other league (first round of playoffs in both leagues).
