Yeah, I mixed up PT with ET. I was thinking that it will be on at 5:15 PT but was going to write 8:15 ET and just combined the two.

It's correct now.

An interesting aside to the Cowboys-Lions game deals with some comments Kitna made after the Lions beat the Cowboys last season. He particularly called out Terrance Newman and Brady James. Both have responded that they are willing to take some shots at Kitna. In fact, some of the remarks Newman made on Sirrus radio has drawn the attention of the NFL.

Here's an article on the league's letter to Newman.

It began with these comments by Kitna last year...

"We really felt like No. 56, sometimes, I don't know that he knew where he was at"

"We definitely felt like Terence Newman was the best corner that they had, so we knew we needed to be careful with him," Kitna said. "But even with him, I mean, he's not [seattle cornerback] Marcus Trufant in my opinion. He doesn't have that kind of ability. It wasn't like you were scared to throw at him, I guess."

Newman responded by saying....

On Monday, in an interview with Sirius' NFL Radio show, Newman said of Kitna, "He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge, because I've got 15, 25, 30 [thousand dollars], however much it would be for a fine. I've got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet, definitely."

So, the league sent this letter to Newman.

Your comments were thoughtless and irresponsible in view of the negative impact such statements have on all of us in football. They are contrary to what the NFL stands for, and do a disservice to the League, your team and yourself.

The public's view of NFL players is essential to our continued success as the most popular sport in America, and your comments undermined the good that so many players have done in developing a positive image. You are among the privileged few able to represent the NFL to our youth and communities. Like it or not, you are a role model ... with all the responsibilities.

Be advised that your comments will now compel us to carefully monitor your activities in this weekend's Cowboys-Lions game. As you know, blatant fouls may subject a player not only to fines, but to suspension as well. So conduct yourself accordingly

It should be interesting, none the less. While I doubt Dallas' defensive scheme will allow Newman or James to extract revenge for those comments, Ware, Ellis, and others may have the chance.

From this article on the Ranch Report...

Last year’s defense totaled 34 sacks in 16 games. This year’s defense has 33 sacks in 12 games. Combine Detroit’s 51 allowed with Dallas’ 33 accomplished and. … what’s the over/under on sacks of Kitna in this game? Four? Five? Six?

I'm looking forward to Dallas putting a little hurt into the idiot that is Jon Kitna.

To start Laverneus Coles, or not to. It seems like he's a game time decision every week. What is the likelihood that he plays today, anyone know?

Reggie Bush is out for Monday night's gave vs the Falcons.

Marvin Harrison also won't play for the Colts this week, and it looks like Cowboys' tackle Marc Colombo is also out for today's gave vs the Lions.

I'm personally glad Harrison isn't playing. First game back against the Ravens defense sounded like a recipe for a re-injury. I expect he'll miss next week at Oakland then return for Houston at home. No inside info, just a hunch with how the Colts generally handle injuries. That said, can't wait to have him back.

Raheem Brock also won't play for the Colts, making their defensive line very thin and young. That's three projected starters (Dwight Freeney, Booger McFarland and Brock) out. Brock will return, though likely not until either the playoffs or right before. Colts may struggle against the run in the meantime.

how much does it suck to have games on at 10am on the west coast? guys must hate going to church out there

So that explains why they are all heathens on the Left Coast...

If the Vikings choke against San Francisco.....

Willis is gonna put AP in the ground.

SF is 27th in the league in RYPG allowed

Minnesota is first in the league in RYPG

In conclusion, no.

i'd say that terrance newman is about 10x the idiot that kitna is, going out and saying that he'd happily take a cheap shot at kitna and pay the fine.

Gado will start at RB for the Fish as Chapman is inactive.

Brock Berlin will start at QB for the Rams as Bulger is inactive.

Marshawn Lynch will play against the Dolphins.

McCown starts again for the Bucs.

Rodgers is out for the Pack, so Craig Nall will back-up Favre.

Ugh, that hurts me. This is the first week of my fantasy playoffs and I have Holt.

Willis is a freak. It's gotta be the offensive ROY against the defensive ROY in that game.

This is the ultimate trap game. The kind of game the Vikings love to lose.

Yeah, Peterson and Willis are probably the top two rookies. Marshawn Lynch, Joe Thomas, Tony Ugoh, David Harris, Dwayne Bowe all have also had very good seasons. Calvin Johnson has been impressive when healthy (not surprising at all). That was off the top of my head, so I'm certain I forgot a couple first-year standouts.

If it weren't for Chorizo and Bloody Mary's, it would really suck. But, because we have those things, it doesn't suck at all. It took awhile to get used to getting up so early for games, though.

People in the NFL are just lucky that Willis is a nice guy. If he had the mind of a Deacon Jones, he'd be ending some careers by now. His hit earlier in the year on Leinart could have destroyed him (as if he wasn't already), but you can tell that Willis pulls up at the end because he doesn't really want to rock his world:

I think today's game with him and Adrian is going to be a showcase of what perhaps might become the best offensive player and defensive player in the NFL for years to come.

That depends if the best player in the NFL is a guy that will average probably like 12 games a year (that's a completely random number, obviously). Peterson is a stud, no doubt, but he's extremely injury prone (upright style doesn't help). We'll see; I hope so, because I have him in a keeper league.
