Tuesday for a decision now? ](*,)

Per Rotoworld by way of Yahoo! Sports:

Update: Fukudome (elbow) is expected to announce his contract status on Tuesday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Recommendation: His agent reports that Fukudome has not yet decided whether to play in the United States. Fukudome's top options appear to be the Yomiuri Giants, Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres. It seems like the Cubs are the front-runners because Fukudome is expected to make a financially based decision and they are believed to be the highest bidders at the moment.

Financially-based decision? I dunno if that's good or bad.

He had surgery in August to remove bone fragments from his right elbow. He's expected to be ready and able come the spring.

I wonder if this is really news. The Cubs.com article also quotes Urbon saying that Fukudome would make an announcement on Tuesday but, he clarified it by saying it would be Monday by US time.

I know that, but the news has nothing to do with his elbow

That's how Rotoworld indicates a player who will miss or has missed time, with the reason in parentheses. Example: Kerry Wood (shoulder), Josh Hamilton (stomach whatever), Ken Griffey Jr. (hamstring), Mike Cameron (25-game suspension). The news didn't have anything to with his elbow surgery, but it is what was indicated by (elbow).

Shoot, for $12MM/year, give me a sure thing instead. I'll take Aaron Rowand.

Is Aaron Rowand really a sure thing in your opinion?

In his opinion, obviously yes or he wouldn't have made the comment. In reality, no.

I am excited that we get the next Raul Ibanez.

Heh... I'm not all that enamored w/ Fuku either. I have the feeling he'll be a tad underwhelming...but then that means he'd fit right in w/ our Cubs

Yeah we should be so saddened to have Raul Ibanez in our outfield. I mean, after all he has been a better hitter than $136m man, Alfonso Soriano, three of the last four seasons.

Of course you're right to point that out. Guess I just don't feel as hyped over Fuku as others.

good lord, we don't tell him when he's right, it just encourages him.

I seen on another board that Someone on The Score reported that the Padres have dropped out of the race or were about to if he didnt decide in a day or two..Anyone hear anything about this?

This is a quote from Kevin Towers in a San Diego paper today :

Will the Padres keep their offer to Fukudome on the table? “If it's only going to be a couple of days,” said Towers, who has said he believes the Cubs are also bidding for the right fielder/center fielder.

That is good news. The cubs will not get outbid on this. At least not by any of the rumored teams ( Padres, Rangers, White Sox, Royals ).

Sweet deal. Make em' decide quick, SD.

The padres also made an offer to Bradley and they offered arbitration to Cameron. If Bradley signs and Cameron accepts arbitration they could be out on Fukudome. With that being said is very unlikely that Cameron will take arbitration. He can catch a multiyear deal somewhere else.

He already declined it.

Excellent news.

Except now we'll probably hear "Fukudome-san wishes to take 2 weeks to meet with all of the interested teams so as not to dishonor any of them."
