can't wait for this guy to be the next kaz matsui

he's going to be an extremely well-paid kaz matsui.

i'd probably just rather pay murton $500,000 to play rf, but since that doesn't seem to be an option, i'd prefer fukudome to green, jenkins or whatever version of jeromy burnitz hendry has his eye on.

I can hear the bleacher chant now:

*expletive deleted* -- YOU -- DO-ME! *expletive deleted* -- YOU -- DO-ME!

I have a bad feeling about the late arrival - they usually are the highest bidder in just about any market.

My guess as to who the 3rd team is - Houston Astros. Huge Japanese population in H-Town. At least it seems that way.

Please, don't merge this thread. It's about time for some real news on the Fook.

Kosuke: "Joe, I think I'm going to stay here. I'd miss my family too much. I hope you're not angry."

Urbon: "Of course not, son. I'm here to do what you want. I'm your agent. That's my job."

Kosuke: "Thanks. Thanks a lot."

Urbon: "Would you like to see the offers, just for fun?"

Kosuke: "Sure, why not?"

Urbon (lays them out on the table): "Here. Take a look."

Kosuke: "Holy Shinola! The Cubs offered HOW MUCH? Where do I sign?"

probably not far from the truth

I can't see it being anyone but the White Sox. As others have already said in the other thread, they must have money left over after failing to land Hunter and Cabrera. Williams is on the hot seat, and Sox players and fans are not happy with the outcome of their offseason, thus far. Outside of Rowand, Fukudome is probably their last chance to make an impact this offseason, and they seemingly are reluctant to give Rowand the 5-year deal he wants. Plus, Sox fans would probably wet their pants over the idea of swooping in and stealing the Cubs top target, which would be a perfect way for Kenny Williams to get back in their good graces. It makes too much sense to not be the Sox.

The only question I still have, obviously, is how much are they offering? Would they be able to outbid the Cubs? They already have one of the highest payrolls in baseball, but I guess desperate times call for desperate measures for Williams.
