So is BR going to sit out all Spring? Jesus! Get this thing done already!

seriously

If I'm Roberts I'd be getting more vocal about it. Either trade me or keep me!

I'm pretty sure we heard that he said that to the O's.......about 2-3 weeks ago.

Yeah, who could blame him too. If something's actually going to happen, get it over with. It's not fun to be a player in this situation either.

I just heard from my sources that Roberts is going to the Expos now...Wow. Didn't see that one coming.

Larry Walker, some guy named Pedro, a lanky lefty name Randy Johnson, and an OF (possibly Moises Alou) going to the Orioles.

Take it with a grain of salt though.

i don't have ESPN Insider, but the main MLB page at ESPN.com has a link that says "Roberts staying an Oriole for now"

All it says is the same thing that was recently published in the paper:

"Despite rumors that claim that a Brian Roberts deal to Chicago is imminent, Cubs GM Jim Hendry told the Chicago Tribune: "There have been no active talks in any trade situation in the last five to six days."

The Cubs still hope to add the Orioles second baseman via a trade before the start of the regular season, but there has been no recent progress in the proposed deal."

It just referred to Hendry saying that he hasn't had any serious talks in over a week.

Yea, 90% of the time all the ESPN Insider stuff offers is just links to the different local newspaper reports for different teams. They just put them all neat in one place for 5-10 bucks a month. Quite a racket they've got going there.

between reading these, listening to the game, and readings for class, I've got a full plate

It's amazing how often I check this thread knowing good and well that there is a .01% chance it's going to give me any new info. Borderline OCD maybe.

So much for talks getting serious.

If a trade ever does happen, I don't think any of us will believe it.

It will happen on April 1 and we'll think it's some twisted joke until he appears in the lineup.

They started sending it to me when FHM crapped out mid-subscription. It was not an even trade off.

Small update from Churchill at http://www.prospectinsider.com

It's serious, just not close in terms of agreeing on a package. MacPhail isn't being realistic, and it doesn't help that the same philosophy worked with Seattle in the Bedard deal.

It seems it changes everyday from Baltimore's perspective. One day I'm being told that "we're getting there, give it a week." The next day, literally, I'm being told by the same people that "oh boy, this not going anywhere."

If it gets past the end of the month, it might go on for weeks and the Cubs will get left out in the cold because Roberts is bound to draw late-spring (meaning May, early June, not Spring Training) interest from teams that think they are in it or have an injury.

I think it is safe to say that it isn't Jim Hendry or Andy MacPhail that is holding up the trade. We ALL know who is holding the trade up, because he doesn't want to trade his favorite player.

I honestly can't believe that the trade talks (and this thread) are still going on. It's crazy that this has lasted so long.

Wouldn't is be easier to go to MLB.com and find out?

Extra Innings is about $250 for the season I believe. I think MLB.TV is around $100.

I'm taking a nap. Wake me when this trade happens.

Or just don't wake me. Same difference.

Trade probably won't happen at all. How much sleep do you want to get again?
