Pie is going to be a FANTASTIC player!

Let's hope so. I'll even take Pie is going to be a SOLID player!

He'll be solid and then progress to fantastic. I have confidence in Pie producing. The key is playing time and this year is the year for him to get that.

Meph disagrees.

who's Meph? oh, right, the nsbblol blogger...

Really?

Yes, really.

I'm confused

It's okay. A lot of people struggle with their sexual identity. You'll figure it out sooner or later.

When was this figured out? I wouldnt have guessed it , particularly given the rant on Meph himself. If so, he loses serious credibility. Because while some of it is fair, most of it is just crass.

I think he's been banned as well. With him being the blogger and always starting fights here, it's no surprise.

Breakthrough possible?

From MLBtraderumors.com:

The Baltimore Sun is now reporting that the Orioles have an interest in Mark Loretta. Hopefully this is a sign that the Brian-Roberts-to-Chicago saga will soon mercifully come to a conclusion. Loretta apparently isn't slated for regular duty in a Houston infield that now features Miguel Tejada, Kaz Matsui and Ty Wigginton, which is why he might be in play. The Astros sent a scout to watch the O's on Sunday.

I think if it's true that the Orioles are looking at Loretta, this means they have a trade about to happen with a team other than the Cubs. We were offering them Patterson and Cedeno so if it was with us why would they look to fill up that spot with a vet?

Where would one find this infamous blog?

Or they are leaking information about Loretta because they'd rather have Gallagher, Marshall, Murton, filler.

Side note: I think Harry Carry at OH is Wrigley23 here. They were having the same issues with him over there with grammar and failure to use the quote button.

How can you say that when the names in the deal have changed often and the list includes about a dozen people? It looks like you're seriously reaching.

Seriously reaching? Take it easy. I'm posting my opinion on this matter.

Olney must really value Roberts...

The Cubs talked to the Rangers during the winter about Marlon Byrd, and now Nick Cafardo is reporting that they are eyeing Boston center fielder Coco Crisp. We don't know if the Cubs are going to get the center fielder they want, but if you piece all this together, it indicates that Chicago is very unsure about whether Felix Pie or Sam Fuld is ready to take over in center field now. Right now, Pie is playing better than Fuld, writes Paul Sullivan, but that doesn't necessarily mean Pie is going to be The Man on Opening Day.

If the Cubs traded for Crisp, they would have identified their center fielder for the next two seasons. And they also will have essentially rendered Pie expendable. And Pie is among those prospects who have been identified by some within the Orioles' organization as a possible trade target in any deal for second baseman Brian Roberts. A package centered around pitcher Sean Gallagher and Pie, along with a few other parts, might be enough to get it done.

There's no way Pie is included for Roberts. No way.

If the O's won't do a deal for Roberts w/o Pie they can keep him.

Olney has lost it. The Orioles can keep Roberts and shove it. We can do without him just fine.

Felix Pie is going to be great.

Trading for Coco Crisp is the worst thing the Cubs could do for his development.

Conclusion: The Cubs will trade for Coco Crisp.

I think they're looking at Loretta to give them depth and to take the pressure off of players like Patterson, Cedeno, Luis Hernandez, etc. Also, it buys time for these players to develop their skills and buys time for MacPhail to go after another MI prospect (Antonelli, Hu, etc.)

I stopped reading as soon as the article said 'writes Paul Sullivan' because anything written after that will be of no consequence. Pie is playing well enough to get first chance just hope that Lous leash is longer than a few abs.
